To determine whether elevated light levels in classrooms rural areas can protect school-age children from myopia onset or progression.A total of 317 subjects 1713 eligible students aged six to 14 four schools located northeast China participated the study. Students received a comprehensive eye examination including cycloplegic refraction and ocular biometry, which included axial length (AL), anterior chamber depth (ACD), corneal curvature (CC) measurement, completed questionnaire. The...

Introduction Astrocytoma is a rare tumour of the central nervous system that often manifests with non-specific clinical symptoms and lacks distinct histological features. There pressing need for further understanding clinicopathological molecular characteristics astrocytoma. Identifying mutant genes can aid in reliable early diagnosis, as well provide insights development targeted therapies. Methods This study aims to investigate clinicopathologic astroblastoma. A total four patients...

Recent studies have shown that West Nile virus (WNV) can induce an asymptomatic persistent infection in the kidneys of experimentally infected hamsters. The chronically rodents shed their urine for up to 8 months, despite disappearance viremia and development high levels neutralizing antibodies. WNV, like most members Japanese encephalitis complex ( Flavivirus; Flaviviridae), is assumed be mainly neurotropic; little known about genetic basis its renal tropism. In this study, complete...

The human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) regulatory protein Tat plays an important role during HIV-1-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) by inducing neuronal autophagy. In this study, we used immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, western blot, qRT-PCR, and RNA interference to elucidate the involvement of Bcl-2-associated athanogene 3 (BAG3) in pathogenesis HIV-1 Tat-induced autophagy HAND. We found that BAG3 expression is elevated astrocytes frontal cortex macaques infected with...

The highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza virus is one of the greatest pandemic threats since 2003. association receptor binding domain (RBD) with virulence rarely addressed, particularly viruses. In this study, BALB/c mice were intranasally infected A/Vietnam/1194/2004 (VN1194, H5N1). mouse lung‐adapted variants isolated and mutation E190G (H3 numbering) in RBD was recognized. recombinant virus, rVN‐E190G carrying hemagglutinin (HA) designed rescued using reverse genetics techniques....

Abstract Background: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the most common complication of diabetes mellitus (DM). The signal pathway and molecular mechanism renal fibrosis are not fully understood. In present study, we aimed to explore function malignant fibrous histiocytoma amplified sequence 1 (MFHAS1) in DN. Method: Mouse mesangial cells (MMCs) were treated with low glucose (LG) or high (HG). TAK242 short hairpin TLR4 (shTLR4) employed down-regulate Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). effect MFHAS1...

Background: Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is the second most common malignancy of skin, and its incidence increasing annually. Once cSCC becomes metastatic, associated mortality rate much higher than that in situ. However, current treatments for progressive have several limitations. The aim this study was to suggest a potential compound future research may benefit patients with cSCC. Methods: In study, we screened following differentially expressed genes from Gene Expression...

We present a case of 75-year-old man with type 2 diabetes and emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN). The patient presented abdominal pain, fever undetermined origin progressive decrease in urine output. Computerized tomography scan revealed gas formation the left renal parenchyma capsule. A nephrectomy was performed. He made quick recovery. EPN should be taken into consideration diabetic patients symptoms who show poor response to conventional treatment. Elective may life saving some patients.
