Fatigue is a common and bothersome symptom in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients. The study was aimed to determine the relationship of biological psychological factors with IBD-related fatigue.Consecutive clinically inactive IBD outpatients receiving immunosuppressants or drugs were enrolled between January December 2013. Patients completed score (FACIT-F), various psychological, quality life (IBDQ-9), activity scores. Biological parameters assessed, including levels interleukins...

Parametric imaging maps (PIM's) derived from digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for the cerebral arterial flow assessment in clinical settings have been proposed, but experiments yet to determine reliability of such studies. For this study, we observed effects different injection techniques on PIM's. A circuit set physiologic conditions was created using an internal carotid artery phantom. PIM's were two catheter positions, contrast bolus volumes (5ml and 10 ml), four rates (5, 10, 15 20...

Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is an endemic disease in the Republic of Panama, caused by Leishmania (Viannia) parasites, whose most common clinical manifestation presence ulcerated lesions on skin. These usually present a chronic inflammatory reaction, sometimes granulomatous, with lymphocytes, plasma cells and macrophages. This study describes histopathological characteristics found skin patients CL (V.) panamensis Panama. We analyzed 49 biopsy samples from suspicion CL, molecular tests (PCR...

Background Diabetes affects more than 30 million patients across the United States. With such a large disease burden, even small error in classification can be significant. Currently billing codes, assigned at time of medical encounter, are “gold standard” reflecting actual diseases present an individual, and thus aggregate reflect prevalence population. These codes generated by highly trained coders health care providers but not always accurate. Objective This work provides scalable deep...

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowaveguides of 40 nm in diameter are fabricated by embedding ZnO nanowires vertically grown on a glass substrate silver film. Resonant transmission through these is observed for incident wavelengths around 500 nm. As the nanowaveguide increases, resonance shifts toward longer with increased amplitude. We attribute resonant to unique material combination used enabling excitation localized surface plasmons.
