We present experimental results concerning both the fabrication and characterization of superconducting tunnel junctions containing superconductor/ferromagnet (S/F) bilayers made by niobium (S) a weak ferromagnetic ${\mathrm{Ni}}_{0.50}{\mathrm{Cu}}_{0.50}$ alloy. Josephson have been characterized down to $T=1.4\phantom{\rule{0.3em}{0ex}}\mathrm{K}$ in terms current-voltage $I$-$V$ characteristics critical current versus magnetic field. By means numerical deconvolution data electronic...
The main advantage of a HTS SQUID magnetometer in NDE applications is represented by its unrivalled magnetic flux sensitivity down to very low frequencies, which allows the detection weak field variations due defects also materials characterized electrical conductivity. imaging obtained means can be an useful technique for easier interpretation responses getting along without post-processing algorithms and independent operator. Therefore, SQUIDs system output compatible with other...
We present measurements of ferromagnet/superconductor (NiCu/NbN) and plain superconducting (NbN) nanostripes with the linewidth ranging from 150 to 300 nm. The NiCu (3 nm)/NbN (8 nm) bilayers, as compared NbN nm), showed a up six times increase in their critical current density, reaching at 4.2 K values 5.5 MA/cm2 for nm wide nanostripe meander 12.1 one. also observed six-time sensitivity enhancement when NiCu/NbN was used an optical detector. strong is explained by vortex pinning strength...
Abstract Background There is currently no standard treatment for desmoid tumors (DTs) associated with familial polyposis coli (FAP). Familial adenomatous in DT patients sometimes a life-threatening condition. Methods We enrolled all consecutive FAP treated at Unit of General Surgery and Transplant, University Naples Federico II evaluated the incidence DTs on between 1996 2016. Results observed 45 FAP; these 5 were DT-FAP-associated. All cases young women, age 25 to 65 years, previously by...
Superconductors are highly suitable materials for radiation detection. Several detector types have been proposed, with properties of fast detection or high wavelength resolution over a wide range optical frequencies. Their performances depend on the relaxation processes involving phonons, quasiparticles and Cooper pairs occurring during energy cascade following absorption in superconductor. The down-conversion related to electron–phonon scattering strength λe−ph which is usually expressed...
In the framework of search for new materials sputter coated superconducting rf cavities particle accelerators, an innovative method to measure properties films, based on inverted microstrip ring resonator technique, is presented. Test measurements well characterized Nb sputtered films show excellent agreement with Bardeen, Cooper and Schrieffer theory prove good resolution method. New results obtained by this technique surface impedance (NbTi)N reactively including temperature dependence...
Introduction . SARS‐CoV‐2 is a virus that causes potentially deadly syndrome affects especially the respiratory tract. Kidney‐transplanted patients are immunosuppressed and more susceptible to viral infections. We have examined our transplantation activity explore future role of kidney from deceased living donors in COVID‐19 era. Patients Methods The transplant center Naples (one two centers Campania, South Italy) continued during pandemic. analysed transplants carried out between March 9...
Composite materials are susceptible to damage which can be induced by service loads and accidental impacts. The detection of any signature produced is critical maintaining the integrity aircraft parts during routine maintenance. A high temperature SQUID magnetometer has been successfully employed in evaluation behavior multi-ply carbon fibers reinforced composite panels for aeronautical applications under low-velocity Measurements magnetic field have carried out above specimen damaged with...
We have fabricated and studied a stacked superconducting double tunnel junction device with transistor-like properties. The intermediate electrode is bilayer consisting of Nb film together an Al that acts as quasiparticle trap. Large current gains more than 50 are observed at 4.2 K when the layer normal. operation highly directional. Results explained on basis trapping quasiparticles from superconductor into normal metal, conversion relaxation energy electronic excitations. Similar devices...
Experimental results on stable point-contact Nb/Y-Ba-Cu-O structures are reported. Reproducible current-voltage characteristics showing Josephson coupling obtained. Measurements of $\frac{\mathrm{dV}}{\mathrm{dI}}$ give an estimate for the energy-gap value high-${T}_{c}$ superconductor Y-Ba-Cu-O $\ensuremath{\Delta}=19.5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}2.0$ mV, corresponding to a ratio $[\frac{2\ensuremath{\Delta}(0)}{{k}_{B}{T}_{c}}]=4.8$ in agreement with previous obtained by different technique.
Kidney transplantation (KT) is the gold standard for treatment of patients with end-stage-renal disease. To expand donor reserve, it necessary to use marginal/suboptimal kidneys. We retrospectively evaluated short/long-term outcome 34 KT elderly who received allografts vascular abnormalities (MRA group), in comparison a kidney single renal artery (SRA group) pair-matched by age, length time on dialysis, comorbidity and age.All participants completed International Physical Activity...
We present here recent results on detection of surface and subsurface artificial features in Al-Ti planar structures, to show current performance our eddy-current nondestructive evaluation system based HTc SQUIDs. The anomalous magnetic fields generated by flaws with known electromagnetic characteristics have been modeled three-dimensional codes finite element method volume integral formulation developed for the investigated problem. Both numerical solutions correctly predicted shape...
