We report the effects of growth ambient on photoluminescence (PL) emission properties ZnO films grown Si (100) by rf magnetron sputtering. Upon increasing O2/Ar+O2 ratio in growing ambient, visible room-temperature PL spectra was drastically suppressed without sacrificing band-edge intensity ultraviolet region. This tendency is estimated to be due reduction oxygen vacancies and zinc interstitials film induced improvement stoichiometry with respect high content, indicating that originates...
A facile and quick approach to prepare self-assembled monolayers of water-dispersible particles on the water surface is presented. Particle suspensions in alcohols were dropped a reservoir form long-range ordered various particles, including spherical solid soft hydrogel metal nanoparticles, quantum dots, nanowires, single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), nanoplates, nanosheets. systematic study was conducted variables affecting monolayer assembly: solubility parameter spreading solvents,...
We herein demonstrate the successive epitaxial growth of Bi2Te3 and Bi2Se3 on seed nanoplates for scalable synthesis heterostructured (Bi2Se3@Bi2Te3) multishell (Bi2Se3@Bi2Te3@Bi2Se3, Bi2Se3@Bi2Te3@Bi2Se3@Bi2Te3). The relative dimensions constituting layers are controllable via molar ratios precursors added to nanoplate solution. Reduction produces nanoparticles that attach preferentially sides nanoplates. Once attached, reorganize epitaxially crystal lattices form single-crystalline...
We have investigated the electronic structure of capped carbon nanotubes under electric fields by density functional calculations. The calculated effective work function armchair decreases linearly with increasing fields, whereas that metal tip quadratically. analyzed states, highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMO's) and lowest unoccupied (LUMO's) for various charged states fields. While HOMO LUMO are not localized at cap a neutral state, negatively state cap, particularly This...
Angle-resolved photoemission is used to determine the temperature-dependent electronic properties of ferromagnetic bulk Gd along \ensuremath{\Gamma}-A three-dimensional Brillouin zone. The ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Delta}}}_{2}$ band exchange splitting (0.85 eV) and dispersion (0.5 are in reasonably good agreement with self-consistent local-spin-density--approximation calculations. conduction-band magnetic vanishes at Curie temperature following a conventional power law Heisenberg critical...

We investigate the current status of mode-coupling theory (MCT) glass transition by making a comparison with two recent sets experiments: scaling data resulting from dielectric measurements Dixon et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 65, 1108 (1990)] and neutron-scattering data. Our main conclusions include following. (a) Experiments do show sequence time scales in relaxation predicted MCT. In particular, we believe that high-frequency tail Nagel co-workers is realization so-called von Schweidler MCT...
We extend a previously proposed field-theoretic self-consistent perturbation approach for the equilibrium dynamics of Dean-Kawasaki equation presented in [J. Stat. Mech. 2008 P02004]. By taking terms missing latter analysis into account we arrive at set three new equations correlation functions system. These correlations involve density and its logarithm as local observables. Our one-loop equations, which must carefully deal with noninteracting Brownian gas theory, are more general than...
A new statistical mechanics formulation of characterizing the structural fluctuation protein correlated with that water is presented based on generalized Langevin equation and 3D-reference interaction site model (RISM)/RISM theory molecular liquids. The displacement vector atom positions, their conjugated momentum, are chosen for dynamic variables protein, while density fields atoms momentum water. Projection other degrees freedom onto those using standard projection operator method produces...
Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) is an autosomal dominant skeletal disorder caused by mutations in RUNX2, coding a key transcription factor of early osteogenesis. CCD patients suffer from developmental defects cranial bones. Despite numerous investigations and clinical approaches, no therapeutic strategy has been suggested to prevent CCD. Here, we show that fetal administration Entinostat/MS-275, class I histone deacetylase (HDAC)-specific inhibitor, partially prevents delayed closure sutures...
Boronic acid-based sensors for saccharides have been developed via biocatalysis. The self-doped copolymer of poly(aniline-co-3-aminobenzeneboronic acid) [poly(aniline-co-AB)], with various mole ratios two components, was synthesized by oxidative enzymatic polymerization using a natural biocatalyst such as horseradish peroxidase together an anionic polyelectrolyte template (sulfonated polystyrene) under mild conditions (pH 4.5). Poly(aniline-co-AB), having aniline boronic acid-to-aniline...
Although schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (BD) are classified as different disease entities, they share critical pathognomonic symptoms in terms of hallucination delusion. Because the characteristics clinical not sufficient to differentiate from BD, several studies have applied brain imaging methods provide biological evidence differences. We compared gray matter (GM) volume differences BD patients examined volumetric associated with delusion these two groups.Ninety-three 75 who were...
The harmonics of the scattering a femtosecond intense laser pulse by an electron has been numerically investigated. harmonic spectrum shows interesting red shifts and parasitic lines in blue sides lines. shift is found to be caused dilation oscillation experienced due its relativistic drift motion along direction driving propagation come from variation intensity. angular distribution each higher line double peak patterns forward direction. backward own distinct pattern: line-shaped nodes...
We have investigated compositional changes on GaN surfaces under low-energy Ar ion bombardment using synchrotron-based high-resolution core-level photoemission measurements and near-edge x-ray absorption fine-structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy. The of produces a Ga-rich surface layer which transforms into metallic Ga at higher bombarding energies. At the same time, spectra around N 1s core level reveal presence both uncoordinated nitrogen interstitials, we analyzed in more detail by K-edge....
We develop a field theoretical treatment of model interacting Brownian particles. pay particular attention to the requirement time reversal invariance and fluctuation-dissipation relationship (FDR). The method used is modified version auxiliary due originally Andreanov, Biroli Lefevre (2006 J. Stat. Mech. P07008). recover correct diffusion law when interaction dropped as well standard mode coupling equation in one-loop order calculation for particle systems. It noteworthy that despite our...
Graphene sheets formed by the reaction of carbon monoxide (CO) with aluminum sulfide (<TEX>$Al_2S_3$</TEX>) at temperatures <TEX>${\leq}$</TEX> 800 <TEX>$^{\circ}$</TEX> were characterized X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The graphene sheets, as CO was reduced to gaseous <TEX>$Al_2S_3$</TEX>, in temperature range - 1100 <TEX>$^{circ}C$</TEX>, did not exhibit their characteristic XRD peaks because small number layers...
We have numerically investigated the mean-field dynamics of $p$-spin interaction spin glass model with p=3 using an efficient method integrating dynamic equations. find a new time scale associated onset breakdown fluctuation-dissipation theorem in intermediate regime. also that off-equilibrium relaxation exhibits sub-aging behavior times and crosses over to simple aging asymptotic
The mode-coupling theory (MCT) of the glass transition can exhibit stretching (nonexponential) behavior observed in primary relaxation supercooled liquids near transition. G\"otze first showed that MCT this \ensuremath{\alpha}-relaxation regime by phenomenologically introducing a linear term into integral for dynamic viscosity. We show paper how be generated using fundamental considerations. In particular, we extend fluctuating nonlinear hydrodynamics compressible liquids, developed Das and...
