The myeloid differentiation factor Schlafen4 (Slfn4) marks a subset of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in the stomach during Helicobacter -induced spasmolytic polypeptide-expressing metaplasia (SPEM). Objective To identify gene products expressed by Slfn4 + -MDSCs and to determine how they promote SPEM. Design We performed transcriptome analyses for both coding genes (mRNA RNA-Seq) non-coding (microRNAs using NanoString nCounter) flow-sorted SLFN4 – from -infected mice exhibiting at...

Habitat loss has been a primary driver of biodiversity declines throughout the United States. Native prairie ecosystems represent some most significant losses in land cover, and subsequently, prairie-dependent species are imperiled. Therefore, understanding ecology remaining remnant portions these is important to help manage their populations. Using radio-telemetry, we examined minimum convex polygon (MCP) 95% kernel density (KD) home ranges 20 (5 females, 15 males) Ornate Box Turtles...

As human-dominated land-use increases globally, urbanization is a prominent cause of decline in natural areas, including lentic ecosystems (i.e. lakes, ponds and wetlands). Lentic urban green spaces, such as parks, golf courses or forest preserves, could provide important habitat for organisms within the matrix. However, there lack data comparing habitats across these types. We quantified area preserve Chicago Metropolitan Region. measured pesticide concentrations, water chemistry,...

Declining reptilian populations has been a growing concern over the last couple of decades. One such declining species concern, Blanding's turtle Emydoidea blandingii , occurs as isolated in North American prairie‐wetlands and is at risk extirpation due to habitat loss fragmentation, increased predator (e.g. racoons, coyotes) supplemented resources urban environments. To help mitigate populations, wildlife managers have invested conservation this through head‐starting (i.e. reared ex situ)...

Alkyne carbopalladation reactions represent a powerful approach to generating multiple new C–C bonds and substituted alkenes, however regioselectivity is often challenging for intermolecular variants. By utilizing ynol ethers as polarized alkynes we observe complete regiocontrol of migratory insertion with Pd–Ar species. A Heck reaction was used turn-over the catalytic cycle by intercepting vinyl-Pd adduct pendant alkene. When using o -iodo styrenes substrates resulting products are...

Alkyne carbopalladation reactions can rapidly generate multiple new C–C bonds; however, regioselectivity is challenging for intermolecular variants. Using ynol ethers, we observe complete regiocontrol of migratory insertion followed by a second with pendant alkene to turn-over the catalytic cycle. The resulting products are oligosubstituted 1-indenol ethers defined stereochemistry based on initial geometry. Blocking β-hydride elimination allowed C–H and reductive steps catalyst turnover.
