Anecdotal observations suggest that sub-clinical electrophysiological manifestations of arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) develop before detectable structural changes ensue on cardiac imaging. To test this hypothesis, we investigated a murine model with conditional genetic deletion one desmoplakin allele (DSP ±) and compared the findings to patients non-diagnostic features ARVC who carried mutations in desmoplakin. Murine: DSP (±) mice underwent electrophysiological,...

Two principal mechanisms are thought to be responsible for Brugada syndrome (BS): (1) right ventricular (RV) conduction delay and (2) RV subepicardial action potential shortening. This in vivo high-density mapping study evaluated the repolarization properties of BS subjects.A noncontact array was positioned 18 patients 20 controls. Using a standard S(1)-S(2) protocol, restitution curves local activation time recovery interval were constructed determine maximal slopes. Significant regional...

Objective
Cyclosporin-A (CsA) has been reported to reduce myocardial infarct size in both the experimental and clinical settings. This protective effect is dependent on its ability prevent opening of mitochondrial permeability transition pore, a critical determinant cell death setting acute ischaemia-reperfusion injury. Whether CsA can extent peri-operative injury (PMI) patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery unknown, investigated this randomised controlled...

Background Because of demographic changes, a growing number elderly patients present with mitral valve ( MV ) disease. Although repair ‐repair) is the “gold standard” treatment for disease, in patients, there controversy about whether ‐repair superior to replacement. We reviewed results after surgery treated over past 20 years. Methods and Results Our in‐hospital database was explored who underwent between 1994 2015. Survival data, obtained from National Health Service central register, were...

Acute aortic dissection type-A (AADA) is a life threatening condition which requires emergency surgery. Surgery usually performed by cardiac surgeons with various levels of surgical experience. We compared the short-term perioperative outcome and long-term survival patients operated specialist (SASs)and those who were without expertise.A single center retrospective review 232 underwent acute surgery for AADA was conducted between 2005 2020. The cohort divided into on SASs (Group A, n = 186)...

Preoperative frailty may predispose patients to poorer outcomes in cardiac surgery; however, there are limited data concerning how preoperative predicts patient-centred outcomes, such as patient-reported disability. Our objective was evaluate the association between and postoperative disability.Patients were prospectively evaluated using Comprehensive Assessment of Frailty score, separating into frail non-frail cohorts. Disability levels quantified WHO Schedule (WHODAS) 2.0 percentage...

Macrophage migration and infiltration is an important first step in many pathophysiological processes, particular inflammatory diseases. Redox modulation of the migratory signalling processes has been reported endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells fibroblasts. To investigate potential role Nox2 response macrophages, bone marrow derived were obtained WT NOX2 knockout mice (Nox2KO)...
