Introduction: Repetitive negative thinking (RNT) is a cognitive process focusing on self-relevant and experiences, leading to poor prognosis of major depressive disorder (MDD). We previously identified that connectivity between the precuneus/posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) right temporoparietal junction (rTPJ) was positively correlated with levels RNT. Objective: In this double-blind, randomized, sham-controlled, proof-of-concept trial, we employed real-time functional magnetic resonance...
Background Adolescents have experienced increases in anxiety, depression, and stress during the COVID-19 pandemic may be at particular risk for suffering from long-term mental health consequences because of their unique developmental stage. This study aimed to determine if initial depression anxiety a small sample healthy adolescents after onset were sustained follow-up later stage pandemic. Methods Fifteen completed self-report measures three timepoints (pre-pandemic [T1], early [T2],...
ObjectiveExposure-based therapy (EXP) and behavioral activation (BA) are empirically-supported intervention techniques that target avoidance approach behavior to alleviate symptoms. Although EXP is an established treatment for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), the effectiveness of BA GAD has not been directly tested or compared with EXP. This study examined efficacy adults GAD.MethodIn a randomized clinical trial (clinicaltrials.gov: NCT02807480) partial blinding in Tulsa, OK, 102 were...
AbstractAbstractObjectives: Hoarding in older adults can have a detrimental effect on daily life. Repetitive negative thinking (RNT) could result greater avoidance of discarding and increased saving behaviors; yet, the unique role RNT hoarding remains understudied. This study aimed to investigate whether intensity contributes adults. Methods: Two hundred sixty-four Japan (ages 65–86 years, 132 males females) participated an online survey. Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted...
Mindfulness training has been shown to promote positive mental health outcomes and related changes in neural networks such as the default mode network, which a central node posterior cingulate cortex (PCC). Previous work from our group reported on impact of novel, neurofeedback augmented mindfulness (NAMT) task regulation PCC hemodynamic activity typically developing adolescents. The present pilot study aimed expand this finding by examining pre-post NAMT resting-state functional connectivity PCC.
