The microstructure of a rapidly solidified Mn4Si alloy is studied by electron diffraction and high resolution lattice imaging. A new two-dimensional octagonal quasicrystal found together with 45° microdomains ß-Mn, similar to the case CrNiSi VNiSi reported earlier. The structure of the β-phase in a Cu–20 at% Ti alloy is investigated by means HREM and SAD. Its space group Pnma positions atoms are revealed superstructure image taken mainly with superlattice reflections. Both these results confirm Cu4Ti proposed earlier from X-ray diffraction analysis. Abstract High‐resolution electron microscopy has been used to characterize the platinum particles supported on TiO 2 or ZnO. After reduction at elevated temperatures, metallic display a regular, faceted shape, and several superstructures, Pt 3 Ti(C), Ti(H), PtTi, PtZn, have found. These results, which may involve strong metal‐support interaction, confirmed by optical diffraction image simulation.
