Previous postmortem studies have long demonstrated that neurofibrillary tangles made of hyperphosphorylated tau proteins are closely associated with Alzheimer disease clinical phenotype and neurodegeneration pattern. Validating these associations in vivo will lead to new diagnostic tools for better understanding its neurobiology.

Objectives To assess the association between sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitor (SGLT-2i) use and risk of incident dementia compared with dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4i) among individuals type 2 diabetes. Design A population-based retrospective cohort study. Setting The Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) Aurum database from UK. Participants Individuals diabetes, aged 40 years or older, newly prescribed SGLT-2i DPP-4i on after 2013–2021, registered in CPRD database....

This paper presents the first challenge on demosaicing of natural spectral images for snapshot hyperspectral imaging systems (HIS) which utilize a multi-spectral filer array (MSFA), i.e., recovery whole-scene information from spatially sub-sampled information. expands "ARAD_1K" data set to first-of-its-kind large-scale multispectral filter scenes containing 1,000 images. Challenge participants were required recover synthetically generated MSFA simulating capture by known calibrated mosaic...

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) has long been recognized as a heterogeneous illness, with common clinical presentation of progressive amnesia and less “atypical” presentations, including syndromes dominated by visual, aphasic, “frontal,” or apraxic symptoms. Our knowledge atypical phenotypes AD comes from clinicopathologic studies, but the growing use in vivo molecular biomarkers amyloid tau pathology, we are beginning to recognize that these may not be rare once thought. When clinician is...

Recent studies of political behavior suggest that voting decisions can be influenced substantially by “first-impression” social attributions based on physical appearance. Separate lines research have implicated the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) in judgment traits one hand and economic decision-making other, making this region a plausible candidate for linking to decisions. Here, we asked whether OFC lesions humans disrupted ability judge candidates or affected how these judgments Seven patients...

Abstract: Large-scale intrinsic brain systems have been identified for exteroceptive senses (e.g., sight, hearing, touch). We introduce an analogous system representing sensations from within the body, called interoception, and demonstrate its relation to regulating peripheral in allostasis. Employing recently introduced Embodied Predictive Interoception Coding (EPIC) model, we used tract-tracing studies of macaque monkeys, followed by two functional magnetic resonance imaging samples ( N =...

Abstract Individual differences in arousal experience have been linked to resting-state salience network connectivity strength. In this study, we investigated how adding task-related skin conductance responses (SCR), a measure of sympathetic autonomic nervous system activity, can predict additional variance experience. Thirty-nine young adults rated their subjective emotionally evocative images while SCRs were measured. They also underwent separate fMRI scan. Greater SCR reactivity (an...

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a severe inflammatory syndrome, which was caused by diverse factors. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in higher mortality rate of these conditions. Currently, effective treatments are lacking. Although siRNA nucleotide-based drugs promising therapeutic approaches, their poor stability and inability to efficiently reach target cells limit clinical translation. This study identified peptide from known cell-penetrating peptides that can form an efficient...

Prefrontal cortex (PFC) has been implicated in the experience and regulation of emotional states. Emotional is a complex construct, encompassing range more specific processes. This exploratory study aimed to delineate which (if any) aspects rely critically on either ventromedial frontal (VMF) or lateral (LF) lobes. The affective individuals with damage these regions was surveyed detail using several measures compared that control participants. Dependent included subjective observer ratings...
