Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an abnormal metabolism often observed with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. Calorie restriction a useful treatment for NAFLD reportedly prolongs the life spans of several species in which sirtuin plays important role. In this study, we examined whether activation SIRT1, mammalian ortholog sirtuin, may ameliorate development NAFLD. Monosodium glutamate (MSG) mice, exhibited obesity resistance, were treated SRT1720, specific SIRT1 activator...

Diet-induced obesity is reported to induce a phenotypic switch in adipose tissue macrophages from an antiinflammatory M2 state proinflammatory M1 state. Telmisartan, angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ agonist, reportedly has more beneficial effects on insulin sensitivity than other blockers. In this study, we studied the of telmisartan macrophage phenotype high-fat-fed mice. Telmisartan was administered for 5 wk C57BL/6 Insulin...

Serine phosphorylation of insulin receptor substrate (IRS)-1 and the induction suppressor cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) is recently well documented as mechanisms for resistance. However, relationship between these two not fully understood. In this study, we investigated involvement SOCS3 IRS-1 serine in TNFalpha-induced resistance 3T3-L1 adipocytes. TNFalpha transiently stimulated from 10 min to 1 h, whereas insulin-stimulated tyrosine was inhibited only after treatment longer than 4 h. These...

Abstract Aims To evaluate the effect of multifaceted interventions using Achievable Benchmark Care ( ABC ) method for improving technical quality diabetes care in primary settings. Methods We conducted a 1‐year cluster randomized controlled trial 22 regions divided into an intervention group IG or control CG ). Physicians received monthly report their quality, with top 10% scores all physicians being achievable benchmark. The change quality‐of‐care between and during follow‐up was analysed...

Abstract Increased mineralisation rate and bone formation after surgery or fracture is the regional acceleratory phenomenon (RAP), its systemic impact (SAP). The proportion of circulating osteoblast lineage cells, including osteocalcin-positive (OCN + ) in peripheral blood markedly higher during pubertal growth patients with fractures. This study aimed to elucidate dynamic changes metabolic activity orthognathic by longitudinal prospective observation. Peripheral venous samples were...

Chiral polar crystals composed of one-dimensional (1D) conducting materials exhibit unique physical phenomena. The present study focused on helical 1D-structured lead halide perovskite derivatives with chiral naphthylethylamine as organic cations, (R or S-NEA)[PbI3](R-NEA = R-(+)-1-(1-naphthyl)ethylamine, S-NEA S-(-)-1-(1-naphthyl)ethylamine). A thermally controlled crystallization method has successfully yielded a space group C2. show significantly intense signals circular dichroism (CD)...

In their Research Article (e202424391), Ayumi Ishii and co-workers present a giant bulk photovoltaic effect (BPVE) in chiral polar crystals of helical 1D lead halide perovskites using naphthylethylamine cations. The crystals, with C2 space group, exhibit strong circular dichroism an exceptional BPVE, achieving open-circuit voltage 15 V—five times band gap. These findings highlight the potential semiconductors for high-efficiency applications.

We have investigated the surface structures of AlN and InN using ab initio calculations based on density functional theory within generalized gradient approximation. studied energies obtained from total energy for various (2×2) geometries cation-terminated (0001) surfaces anion-terminated InN, with hydrogen in a carrier gas. It was found that N–H bonds were favorable under ambient, while absence hydrogen, metal adatoms N tended to be stable metal-rich conditions N-rich conditions, respectively.

Proinflammatory cytokines are well-known to inhibit insulin signaling result in resistance. IL-1α is also one of the proinflammatory cytokines, but mechanism how induces resistance remains unclear. We have now examined effects on 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) and angiotensin II (Ang II) in adipose tissue are thought to induce systemic insulin resistance rodents; but the precise mechanism is not fully clarified. We examined of Ang II-induced and/or tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)-induced MCP-1 production from 3T3-L1 preadipocytes. The protein mRNA expression preadipocytes were increased significantly by stimulation with TNF-α. found no significant increase concentrations alone; it enhanced TNF-α-induced a...

Chronic muscle loading (overload) induces skeletal muscles to undergo hypertrophy and increase glucose uptake. Although AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) reportedly serves as a negative regulator of positive uptake, its role in overload-induced uptake is unclear. This study aimed determine whether AMPK regulates muscles. To this end, overload was induced through unilateral synergist ablations wild-type (WT) transgenic mice, expressing the dominant-negative mutation (AMPK-DN). After 14...
