✓The response of nonfluorescing infiltrating tumors that had been exposed to 5–aminolevulinic acid and irradiated using a laser at wavelength 405 nm was analyzed intraoperatively spectroscopy. Histological analyses demonstrated neoplastic cells were present in the tissue region displayed peak 636 nm, whereas no exhibited only excitation light peak. The authors conclude intraoperative use spectroscopy can allow diagnosis tumor detection boundaries infiltrate when standard fluorescence techniques fail.

Urokinase‐type plasminogen activator (uPA) binds with high affinity to its specific cell surface receptor (uPAR) (CD87) via a well‐defined sequence within the N‐terminal region of uPA (uPA 19–31 ). Since this uPA/uPAR‐interaction plays significant role in tumor invasion and metastasis, it has become an attractive therapeutic target. Two small peptidic cyclic competitive antagonists have been developed, based on uPAR binding site uPA: WX‐360 (cyclo 21,29 [ D ‐Cys21]‐uPA 21–30 [S21C;H29C])...

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines are effective in reducing the prevalence of this disease. However, some patients develop autoimmune diseases after vaccination. We herein report a case elderly onset intestinal Behçet's (BD) with trisomy 8 following COVID-19 vaccination which was exacerbated by infection. The patient developed refractory stomatitis and genital ulcers two weeks receiving second presented bloody stool years later. Intestinal BD 8, COVID-19, treated high-dose...

Raman spectroscopy yields precise information, not only regarding the secondary structure of proteins but also discrimination between normal and malignant tissues. There is, however, no standard measurement method. We evaluated use a miniaturized, handheld, all-in-one spectrometer with 1064-nm laser excitation source for diagnosis colorectal cancer. The ultimate goal is real-time, in vivo diagnosis.Tissue samples were obtained from 20 patients who underwent surgery irradiated portable...

It is often difficult to evaluate the results of transcranial motor-evoked potential (TCMEP) monitoring in patients under general anesthesia because these are strongly affected by anesthetics and muscle relaxants. To exclude effects relaxants on TCMEP, compound action (CMAP) supramaximum stimulation median nerve immediately after (300 600 V) was recorded 70 neurosurgical operations. A relative amplitude index (RAI) defined as TCMEP operative procedure divided before procedure. The RAI...

Abstract mRNA levels of the urokinase receptor splice variant uPAR-del4/5 are associated with prognosis in breast cancer. Its overexpression cancer cells affects tumor biologically relevant processes. In present study, individual cell clones displaying low vs. high expression were analyzed demonstrating that leads to reduced adhesion and invasion a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) was found be strongly upregulated overexpressing compared vector control...

Background: Resection of the primary lesion with radical lymph node dissection is most promising treatment avenue for patients cancer. On other hand, these procedures often induce excessive intraoperative blood loss (IBL) and require perioperative transfusion. The influence IBL on long-term postoperative outcomes digestive cancer controversial. We investigated impact survival recurrence after curative surgery in colorectal (CRC) a single study group. Patients Methods: In total, 1,597 who...

Background/Aim: Population aging results in increasing numbers of elderly persons undergoing surgery for colorectal cancer. We sought to identify objective preoperative indicators outcomes, with a view toward development safe, effective treatments such patients. Accurate measurement of the distal rectal tumor margin is essential in selecting appropriate surgical procedure. However, there no standard method.
