The frequent occurrence of comorbidities in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) suggests that they may share pathobiological processes and/or risk factors. To explore these possibilities we compared the clinical diseasome and molecular 5447 COPD hospitalised because an exacerbation . is a network representation relationships between diseases, which diseases are connected if co-occur more than expected at random; diseasome, linked associated genes or interaction...

Squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) usually show a standard histopathologic picture only varying with regard to their degree of differentiation. The authors describe case clear SCC that was studied by light and electron microscopy. cells showed an empty cytoplasm periodic acid‐Schiff alcian blue negative. By microscopy these cytoplasms consisted spaces were not surrounded membranes, which would be consistent lipid vacuoles. differential diagnosis this uncommon variant requires consideration other tumors.

High-grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (HGPIN) is a recognized precursor stage of PCa. Men who present HGPIN in first prostate biopsy face years active surveillance including repeat biopsies. This study aimed to identify non-invasive prognostic biomarkers that differentiate early on between indolent cases and those will transform into actual PCa.We measured the expression 21 candidate mRNA using quantitative PCR urine sediment samples from cohort 90 patients with initial diagnosis...

In genetic association studies, tests for Hardy-Weinberg proportions are often employed as a quality control checking procedure. Missing genotypes typically discarded prior to testing. this paper we show that inference can be biased when missing values discarded. We propose use multiple imputation of in order improve proportions. For employ multinomial logit model uses information from allele intensities and/or neighbouring markers. Analysis an empirical data set single nucleotide...

Single-step genomic best linear unbiased prediction (ssGBLUP) allows the inclusion of information from genotyped and ungenotyped individuals in a single analysis. This avoids need to genotype all candidates with potential benefit reducing overall costs. The aim this study was assess effect genotyping strategies, proportion criterion rank be genotyped, when using ssGBLUP evaluation. A simulation carried out assuming selection over several discrete generations where were evaluation done...

We report a stellate-cell dermal tumour which was studied by immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy. The stellate morphology of the cells appeared to be due retraction their cytoplasm resulting in emergence intercellular spaces. Results immunohistochemical investigations were consistent with neural tumour, but we could not assign it any particular category known tumours. Therefore have designated this as an unusual, benign, neural-tumour morphology.
