Olfactory integration is important for survival in a natural habitat. However, how the nervous system processes signals of two odorants present simultaneously to generate coherent behavioral response poorly understood. Here, we characterize circuit basis form olfactory Caenorhabditis elegans . We find that presence repulsive odorant, 2-nonanone, threat strongly blocks attraction other odorants, such as isoamyl alcohol (IAA) or benzaldehyde, signal food. Using forward genetic screen, found...
The miniMOS technique has been widely used in the C. elegans community to generate single copy insertions. A worm is considered as a potential insertion candidate if it resistant G418 antibiotics and does not express co-injected fluorescence marker. If expression of extrachromosomal array very low, possible for be mistakenly identified candidate, this low level can still confer resistance without producing detectable signal from co-injection This may increase workload identifying locus...
We present wireless transmission of neural signals from an insect based hybrid bio-electromechanical sensor.Previous work demonstrated the feasibility creating insect-based olfactory sensor with integration a microfabricated silicon microprobe.By expanding this system to include transmission, we can move towards taking full advantage tapping into insect's serve as gas sensor.Moth species have one most sensitive sensors available parts-per-quadrillion sensitivity pheromones.A 0.35-μm...
