Nomenclatural type definitions are one of the most important concepts in biological nomenclature. Being physical objects that can be re-studied by other researchers, types permanently link taxonomy (an artificial agreement to classify diversity) with nomenclature name diversity). Two proposals amend International Code Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN), allowing DNA sequences alone (of any region extent) serve as taxon names voucherless fungi (mainly putative taxa from...
The authors describe ten new taxa for science using mostly both morphological and molecular data. In Basidiomycota, descriptions are provided Botryobasidium fusisporum sp. nov., B. triangulosporum Cantharellus hydnoides nov. Hydnum aerostatisporum in Cantharellales; Lactarius rahjamalensis Russula pseudoaurantiophylla Russulales Mycena paraguayensis comb. Agaricales. Ascomycota hyphomycetes, Colletotrichum eryngiicola (Glomerellales), Corynesporella indica (incertae sedis) Repetophragma...
The genus Tulasnella often forms mycorrhizas with orchids and has worldwide distribution. Species of this are associated a wide range orchids, including endangered hosts. Initially, species identification relied mostly on morphological features few cultures were preserved for later phylogenetic comparisons. In study, total 50 isolates collected from their natural sites in Minas Gerais, Brazil, cultured, subjected to analysis based alignments sequences the internal transcribed spacer (ITS)...
Canastra cheese is the most well-known artisanal produced in Brazil. Although its production includes a step to remove fungi from surface, recent years some cheesemakers have preserved autochthonous grown during ripening due an interest sensory characteristics attributed these microorganisms. In this work, mycobiota of cheeses region was characterized based on ITS marker gene analysis. A total 96 16 different farms across 9 cities were collected two periods (dry and wet seasons). The...
A new endophytic fungal species, Neopestalotiopsis hadrolaeliae, is described from roots of Hadrolaelia jongheana, an endangered orchid species growing in Brazil. Multigene phylogenetic analyses coupled with morphological observations facilitated the identification isolated jongheana. Phylogenetic based on ITS, TUB and TEF DNA sequences showed that taxon different reported species. Descriptions illustrations notes are provided for which we name herein as hadrolaeliae.
Five new species, two varieties and three newly reported taxa belonging to the Meliolaceae were collected in fragments of Atlantic forest from Minas Gerais, Brazil, association with native plants are described illustrated herein. The species Appendiculella eupatorii, Meliola cassiae-ferrugineae, M. mutisiae, peruiferae, vernaliae. garugae var. protii paullinifolii rubiginosae. These Brazil for first time: Asteridiella cyclopoda, A. entebbeensis codiaei pazschkeana macropoda. We studied other...
Recent searches in Brazil for plant pathogens with potential use as classical biocontrol agents of Macfadyena unguis-cati yielded five fungal species, two previously undescribed. These are described herein and preliminary evaluations based on field laboratory observations the diseases which they associated given. are: Guignardia mangiferae (leaf spots), Meliola herteri (black mildew), Passalora macfadyenae sp. nov. Pseudocercospora spots) Prospodium (rust). The newly Pa. Pr. , regarded...
A survey of foliicolous fungi associated with Dimorphandra wilsonii and mollis (Fabaceae) was conducted in the state Minas Gerais, Brazil. is a tree species native to Brazilian Cerrado that listed as critically endangered. Fungi strictly depending on this plant may be verge co-extinction. Here, results pioneering description mycobiota are provided contribute neglected field microfungi conservation. The D. mollis, which common broad geographical distribution co-occurs wilsonii, examined...
A new endophytic species of Colletotrichum was isolated from an endangered orchid species, Cattleya jongheana in the Parque Estadual da Serra Negra, state Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is described and illustrated as serranegrense sp. nov. this study. Morphology multi-locus phylogenetic analyses based on combined ITS, ACT, TUB2 CHS-1 sequence data revealed that these isolates were gigasporum complex confirmed differences compared to other genus.
A dematiaceous fungus associated with trichomes on leaflets of Dimorphandra mollis was collected during a survey fungi the genus ( Fabaceae ). The host tree is endemic to Brazilian Cerrado. Although widely distributed there, this plant has been neglected in mycological studies, since no ever recorded association it. new produces large alveariform (skep or beehiveshaped), muriform, dictyosporous, distoseptate, verruculose conidia from large, thickened, dark washer-like conidiogenous loci....
A new leaf spot disease was observed on the orchid species Epidendrum secundum in “high altitude grasslands” of Araponga, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Inoculation tests healthy plants confirmed pathogenicity this fungus. Pseudocercospora epidendri sp. nov., causal agent E . , is described, illustrated, and compared with allied hosts family Orchidaceae
Species from Ceratobasidium are known as orchid mycorrhizal, plant pathogens or saprophytic. In mycorrhizal association with orchids, can establish a highly specific interaction. Gomesa recurva is an epiphytic occurring in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. present study fungi were isolated roots of G. and its phylogenetic positions was investigated. A total nine isolates obtained directly pelotons submitted to analysis based on alignments sequences internal transcribed spacer (ITS) nuclear...
The new combination Calidion bombacis is proposed for the rust species formerly known as Uredo bombacis. This nomenclatural change based on examination of newly collected material this fungus from a host, Bombacopsis glabra Brazil, and reexamination isotype. Until now was only to occur in Asia (China, India Sri Lanka). Therefore, also first record Neotropics.
No Brasil, essa espécie vegetal encontra-se distribuída desde Minas
