Abstract Mushroom-forming fungi (Agaricomycetes) have the greatest morphological diversity and complexity of any group fungi. They radiated into most niches fulfil diverse roles in ecosystem, including wood decomposers, pathogens or mycorrhizal mutualists. Despite importance mushroom-forming fungi, large-scale patterns their evolutionary history are poorly known, part due to lack a comprehensive dated molecular phylogeny. Here, using multigene genome-based data, we assemble 5,284-species...

Nomenclatural type definitions are one of the most important concepts in biological nomenclature. Being physical objects that can be re-studied by other researchers, types permanently link taxonomy (an artificial agreement to classify diversity) with nomenclature name diversity). Two proposals amend International Code Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (ICN), allowing DNA sequences alone (of any region extent) serve as taxon names voucherless fungi (mainly putative taxa from...

Steppe vegetation on sandy soil in Hungary has recently been revealed as one of the hot spots Europe for stalked puffballs (genus Tulostoma ). In framework taxonomic revision gasteroid fungi Hungary, four species are described here new to science: T. dunense , hungaricum sacchariolens and shaihuludii . The study is based detailed macro- micromorphological investigations (including light scanning electron microscopy), well a three-locus phylogeny nrDNA ITS, LSU tef1-α sequences. ITS sequences...

Abstract In this study, we investigate the phylogeny and taxonomy of /Camptori clade sensu Soop et al. (2019a). Based on combined nrDNA ITS phylogenetic, morphological, ecological analyses, includes six species in Europe, four which are described here as new to science: Cortinarius malavalii , C. marklundii violaceoserrulatus viridocaelestinus . We also provide a taxonomic revision two known clade, camptoros viridocoeruleus its current concept, is mostly represented frondose woodlands...

A new species of Cortinarius sect. Calochroi, C. pseudocisticola from European deciduous forests, is described on the basis morphological and genetic features. Several collections Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary Italy were studied. Illustrations fresh basidiomes in situ main macro- micromorphological features are provided. Its characters compared to those molecularly closest related most similar species.
