AIM:To investigate the antioxidant activity of chitooligosaccharides (COSs) on pancreatic islet cells in diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin. METHODS:The effect COSs was detected under optical microscopy and with colorimetric assay gel electrophoresis. The activities glutathione peroxidase superoxide dismutase, total capacity, content malondialdehyde serum tissue slices pancreas were examined after 60 d to determine streptozotocin-induced diabetes rats. RESULTS:COSs can prohibi t...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Xylitol, a sugar alcohol widely used in food and pharmaceutical industries, can be produced through biological reduction of xylose present hemicellulose hydrolysates by Candida tropicalis . However, the aeration rate by‐products originating from hydrolysis strongly inhibit production xylitol fermentation process. A two‐stage fed‐batch system was developed to reduce these inhibitory effects improve corn cob C. RESULTS: Results batch fermentations indicated that high could...

Abstract Phenyllactic acid (PLA) has gained a lot of attention due to its broad antimicrobial activity, but the mechanism antifungal action been barely reported until now. Herein, inhibitory activity PLA against Aspergillus flavus spore germination and were preliminarily investigated. Results indicated that had strong A. with minimal concentration (MIC) fungicidal (MFC) 6 12 mg/ml, respectively. As observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), spores displayed wrinkled shrunken appearance...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Saccharomyces cerevisiae is one of the main microorganisms that can produce S ‐adenosylmethionine (SAM) from L‐methionine and ATP with high productivity. To satisfy requirement for SAM synthesis, sufficient oxygen should be supplied to medium improve aerobic metabolism in S. . In this study, n ‐hexadecane used as vector enhancement production by yeast was investigated. RESULTS: N most favorable cell growth synthesis when added at time inoculation. It could increase...

Abstract Background Cutaneous melanoma (CM) has an overall poor prognosis due to a high rate of metastasis. This study aimed explore the role hypoxia-related genes (HRGs) in CM. Methods We first used on-negative matrix factorization consensus clustering (NMF) cluster CM samples and preliminarily analyzed relationship HRGs immune cell infiltration. Subsequently, we identified prognostic-related hub by univariate COX regression analysis least absolute shrinkage selection operator (LASSO)...
