Abstract Background Freshwater macroalgae possess a number of important secondary metabolites. They are an unexplored source medicinal compounds. In this study, three freshwater macroalgae— Chara vulgaris , Cladophora glomerata and Spirogyra crassa —were collected from the river Swat Kabul in Charsadda district Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. To assess role agriculture, various experiments were performed on their extracts. Methanolic extract first analyzed through gas chromatography–mass...

The progress and development of crops like potato are harmfully affected by increased heat stress throughout the world. Stress caused adversely affects germination seedling growth which result in a reduced crop yield. present research was carried out to know influence on indices physiological processes (Solanum tuberosum L.). stresses C- Control (25 °C); T1-45 °C, T2-40 °C were applied separate chambers plants, after 25 days from their germination. Increased considerably decreased...

Rust diseases are the major cause of low yield wheat in Pakistan. Wheat breeders all over world as well Pakistan deriving rust resistance genes from alien species like Triticum ventricosum and introducing them common (Triticum aestivum). One such example is introgression gene cluster Lr37-Sr38-Yr17 derived T. chromosome 2NS into wheat. A basic prerequisite to introduce (like those present on segment) locally adapted varieties availability a suitable marker system which can be used keep track...

The sucrose synthase (SS) is an important enzyme family which play a vital role in sugar metabolism to improve the fruit quality of plants. In many plant species, members SS have been investigated but detailed information not available legumes particularly and Glycine max specifically. present study, we found thirteen (GmSS1-GmSS13) G . genome. High conserved regions were GmSS sequences that may due selection pressure during evolutionary events. segmental duplication was major factor...

For improvement of maize crop presence genetic diversity in the germplasm is very important. This study was conducted to determine among 17 Pakistani genotypes using 10 simple sequence repeat (SSR) primer sets. All amplification products were range distances calculated. High degree polymorphism observed with overall distance ranged from 0 - 100% and average 81%. A total 196 alleles amplified an 1.56 permicrosatellite/ locus. SSR sets p-umc1354, p-umc1984, p-umc1186, p-umc1325, pumc2281,...

A high molecular weight serine protease has been purified to electrophoretic homogeneity from the seeds of Caesalpinia bonducella Flem. (Caesalpiniaceae) by combination size exclusion and ion exchange chromatography. About 524 fold purification was achieved with an overall recovery 6.8%. The specific activity found be 86 U/mg/min at pH 8.0. calculated K(m) V(max) were 1.66 mg/mL 496.68 units/min per mg protein, respectively. mass estimated about 63 kDa sodium dodecyl sulfate PAGE. enzyme...

ABSTRACT: Weeds have indirect effects on crop plants. Crop development is affected by allelopathy from certain weed species. Allelochemicals allelopathic weeds can disturb the root and shoot growth of emerging seedlings, as well cause several other types damage. A study was carried out to investigate potential Parthenium hysterophorus for response in soybean. The experiment laid Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with split plot arrangements replicated thrice. Sowing methods (broadcast...

Abstract Background High-Affinity Potassium ions represent one of the most important and large group potassium transporters. Although HAK genes have been studied in a variety plant species, yet, remain unexplored common bean. Results In current study, 20 were identified bean genome. Super-family “K_trans” domain was found all PvHAK genes. Signals for localization proteins detected cell membrane. Heat shock proteins (HSPs) play a vital role in cellular homeostasis by protecting against various environmental stresses. It facilitates the survival of plants under adverse conditions. However, HSP70 gene Areca palm, an economically important crop, remains undercharacterized.
