Abstract Although glial cells have been implicated widely in the formation of axon tracts both insects and vertebrates, their specific function appears to be context-dependent, ranging from providing essential guidance cues playing a merely facilitory role. Here we examine role retinal basal glia (RBG) photoreceptor Drosophila. The RBG originate optic stalk thought migrate into eye disc along axons, thus precluding any guidance. show following. (1) can, fact, even absence axons stalk; they...
The number of cases drug resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections is on the rise globally and new strategies to identify candidates with novel mechanisms action are in urgent need. Here, we report synthesis evaluation a series benzo[b]phenanthridine-5,7,12(6H)-triones, which were designed based redox-active natural products. We find that vitro inhibitory activity 6-(prop-2-ynyl)benzo[b]phenanthridine-5,7,12(6H)-trione (1f) against methicillin-resistant (MRSA), including panel...
Malaria infection is initiated when the insect vector injects Plasmodium sporozoites into a susceptible vertebrate host. Sporozoites rapidly leave circulatory system to invade hepatocytes, where further development generates parasite form that invades and multiplies within erythrocytes. Previous experiments have shown thrombospondin-related adhesive protein (TRAP) plays an important role in sporozoite infectivity for hepatocytes. TRAP, typical type-1 transmembrane protein, has long...
Wrightia tinctoria L. leaf hexane, methanol, chloroform, ethyl acetate and water extracts were screened against plant pathogenic bacteria by in vitro. The tested using disc diffusion method minimum inhibitory concentration. Ethyl methanol showed significant antibacterial activity gram negative bacteria; the MIC was 50 μg/ml for Xanthomonas campestris Erwina sp. Study shows leaves possessed potent antimicrobial properties suggesting that active principles may be useful control of disease.
Retinal axons in Drosophila make precise topographic connections with their target cells the optic lobe. Here we investigate role of Netrins and receptor Frazzled establishment retinal projections. We find that Netrins, although expressed target, are not required for Surprisingly, Frazzled, found on both fibers cells, is attracting fibers, while playing at best a redundant themselves; this finding demonstrates attraction necessary map formation. Finally, show differentiation target. Our data...
Purpose. Rapid and accurate detection of carbapenem resistance is a critical requirement for the selection appropriate therapy initiation infection control measures. Although several tests are available, their use limited by one or more factors. Phenotypic lengthy, have variable sensitivity specificity do not generally identify carbapenemase. Molecular assays overcome many these issues but cost can be barrier to adoption, particularly in low-resource settings. To address need affordable,...
Endothelialization of cardiovascular implants is regarded as a promising strategy for long-term compatibility. While umbilical vein endothelial cells are typically applied in research, human arterial (HAEC) from elderly donors would be the obvious source autologous cellularization strategies. In our approach, HAEC 16 varying age (16-63 years) were divided into two groups (<30 years and >30 analyzed regarding morphology, viability, proliferation, function senescence status. No age-related...
Non-communicable diseases are the leading cause of death and disability across India, including in poorest states. Effective disease management, particularly for cardiovascular diseases, requires tracking several biochemical physiological parameters over an extended period time. Currently, patients must go to diagnostic laboratories doctors' clinics or invest individual point-of-care devices measuring required parameters. The cost inconvenience current options lead inconsistent monitoring,...
Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance a lateral flow antibody test for COVID-19, approved use in India. Although many point-of-care tests are available globally, they have been subjected limited clinical validation. This has led suboptimal outcomes field, where play significant role tracking immunity individuals and communities. In an test, ImmunoQuick that recognizes antibodies Nucleocapsid Spike proteins SARS CoV-2 tested 100 symptomatic patients with...
