A total of 119 lactic acid bacteria (LAB) were isolated, by culture-dependant method, from rhizosphere samples olive trees and desert truffles evaluated for different biotechnological properties. Using the variability intergenic spacer 16S-23S 16S rRNA gene sequences, isolates identified as genera Lactococcus, Pediococcus, Lactobacillus, Weissella, Enterococcus . All strains showed proteolytic activity with variable rates 42% EPS producers, while only 10% ability to grow in 9% NaCl. In...

Streptomyces is the most frequently described genus of Actinomycetes, a producer biologically active secondary metabolites. Indeed, species produces about 70% antibiotics and 60% antifungal molecules used in agriculture. Our study was carried out with goal isolating identifying antimicrobial metabolites from misionensis V16R3Y1 isolated date palm rhizosphere (southern Tunisia). This strain presented broad range activity against Fusarium oxysporum, Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium expansum,...

Abstract Weissella strains have been reported to be useful in biotechnological and probiotic determinations, some of them are considered opportunistic pathogens. Given the widespread interest about antimicrobial susceptibilities, transmission resistances, virulence factors, there is little research available on such topics for . The aim this study was assess safety aspects potential 54 spp. from different environmental sources. Antibiotic susceptibility, hemolytic activity, horizontal...

Many pentachlorophenol- (PCP-) contaminated environments are characterized by low or elevated temperatures, acidic alkaline pH, and high salt concentrations. PCP-degrading microorganisms, adapted to grow prosper in these environments, play an important role the biological treatment of polluted extreme habitats. A bacterium was isolated from arid saline soil southern Tunisia enriched mineral salts medium supplemented with PCP as source carbon energy. Based on 16S rRNA coding gene sequence...

The research and the selection of novel probiotic strains from niches are receiving increased attention on their proclaimed health benefits to both humans animals. This study aimed evaluate functional properties Weissella arid land living-hosts select with cholesterol-lowering property in vitro vivo , for use as probiotics. They were assessed acid bile tolerance, antibiotic susceptibility, membrane properties, antibacterial activity, antiadhesive effect against pathogens host cell lines,...

Leuconostoc lactis AV1 strain isolated from a Tunisian avocado was characterized as dextran producer. The promoter P dsrLL and the gene encoding DsrLL dextransucrase responsible for synthesis were transcriptionally fused to mCherry coding generating pRCR20 plasmid. Upon plasmid transfer, both AV1n non-producing mesenteroides CM70 became red due expression of dsrLL-dsr-mrfp transcriptional fusion. Characterization polymers present in cultures supernatants revealed that encoded recombinant...

In this paper, we assessed the ability of two strains Saccharomyces cerevisiae, in viable and dead forms, to remove ochratoxin A (OTA) from an artificially contaminated synthetic grape juice medium (SGM) (10 µg OTA/L) a naturally (6.64 OTA/L). The first strain, named Levulin FB, is commercial yeast used making wine. second, SC5, autochthonous strain isolated table grapes. OTA concentrations juices before after their contact with cells were assessed. significant decrease level (p < 0.05)...
