High rates of revision surgery have been reported for laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG), with weight regain (WR) as the most frequently cause. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is commonly performed procedure, whereas one-anastomosis (OAGB) a less popular approach.A single-blinded randomized controlled trial was conducted. One hundred seventy-six patients were enrolled and randomized. After loss to follow-up, 80 RYGB OAGB analyzed, 2-year follow-up. Patients grade B or higher...

Abstract Background Changes in the skin structure, including collagen and elastin content, have been reported with massive weight loss (MWL) following bariatric metabolic surgery (BMS) correlated to a higher risk of complications after body-contouring (BCS). This study aimed at comparing histological characteristics patients having surgical MWL (SMWL) post-BMS those non-surgical (NSMWL). Methods prospective compared epidermal thickness, fibers content 80 biopsies obtained from BCS procedures...

This study is part of an initiative to improve the FAIRness (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reusability) metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS) registries globally. It explores extent which European registry data can be manually integrated without first making them FAIR and assesses these registries' current level FAIRness. The findings establish a baseline for evaluation provide recommendations enhance MBS management practices. Data dictionaries from five national in Germany,...

Abstract We present a case involving patient with laparoscopic banded sleeve gastrectomy (BSG) 3-month history of persistent vomiting, decreased tolerance for fluids, and limited intake soft food items. Upon investigation, an eroded band gastric dilatation were identified. The treatment involved the removal segment stomach, followed by restoration continuity through gastrogastrostomy.

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) has high reported rates of revision due to poor weight loss (WL) and complication rates. Yet, there is yet be a consensus on the best revisional procedure after unsuccessful LAGB, studies comparing different procedures LAGB are still needed.

Abstract Background Lingering severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in gut tissue might be a source of infection during bariatric surgery. This study aimed to confirm the presence SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid gastric and gallbladder tissues removed surgery individuals previously infected with disease 2019 (COVID-19) who had negative polymerase chain reaction results prior Methods Gastric specimens from 80 patients underwent between November 2021 May 2022 history COVID-19...

Abstract Background and study aims Gut infection is common during acute COVID-19, persistent SARS-CoV-2 gut has been reported months after the initial infection, potentially linked to long-COVID syndrome. This tested incidence of in patients with a history COVID-19 undergoing endoscopic examination. Patients methods Endoscopic biopsies were prospectively collected from previous upper or lower gastrointestinal endoscopy (UGE LGE). Immunohistochemistry was used detect presence nucleocapsid...

Background: Conversional bariatric surgery inherently has less weight loss (WL) compared to primary procedures. Adjunctive use of the GLP-1 analog, liraglutide with conversional Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (cRYGB) may maximize WL benefits surgery. Material and methods: This single-center randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial included 80 patients into two groups; group (40 patients) who received daily injections liraglutide, placebo normal saline starting at 6 weeks from cRYGB...

Abstract Background Conversional surgery is common after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) because of suboptimal weight loss (SWL) or poor responders and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) the most conversional procedure LSG. Methods A retrospective cohort study analyzed patients who underwent primary RYGB (PRYGB) (CRYGB) at three specialized bariatric centers between 2008 2019 tested for loss, resolution GERD, food tolerance (FT), early late...
