A fluorescent dye, the pyridomethene-BF(2) complex, has been synthesized. Although pyridomethenes did not exhibit fluorescence, complexes exhibited fluorescence both in solution and solid state. The trifluoromethyl-substituted BF(2) complex formed a J-aggregate showed highest quantum yield state among all complexes.

Allylic carbonates are cyanated in high yields to β,γ-unsaturated carbonitriles using trimethylsilyl cyanide the presence of a catalytic amount (5 mol %) Pd(PPh3)4 THF under reflux. In reaction, cinnnamyl methyl carbonate affords cinnamyl 98% yield. acetates also provide corresponding carbonitriles, but often lower yields. The cyanations several cis- and trans-alicyclic substrates proceed cleanly (stereoselectivity > 99%) with overall retention. Characterization reaction palladium complexes...

We have succeeded in obtaining unique one-dimensional (1D) chain complexes (1, 2, and 3) comprised of two types metal species: rhodium platinum. These compounds are constructed from a dinuclear complex (i.e., [Rh(2)]) pivalamidate-bridged platinum [Pt(2)]), forming an attractive quasi-1D infinite chain, expressed as -{[Rh(2)]-[Pt(2)]-[Pt(2)]}(n)-. Interestingly, the bridging ligands [Rh(2)] can be varied with trifluoroacetate, acetate, acetamidate groups, indicating possibility electronic...
