ABSTRACT Three rare human G12 strains were detected from diarrheic clinical samples of children (<8 months age) in Calcutta during a routine surveillance study rotaviral diarrhea India. The VP7 genes and their products showed maximum homology (97 to 99% at the nucleotide level 98% amino acid level, respectively) with those two recently reported (from United States Thailand) but lesser prototype strain L26.
Acyclovir use is limited by a high frequency of administration five times day and low bioavailability. This leads to poor patient compliance. To overcome the problem frequent dosing, we used nanotechnology platform evaluate proof concept substituting multiple daily doses acyclovir with single dose.Acyclovir was formulated as solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN). The were characterized for particle size, surface charge morphology in vitro drug release. pharmacokinetic pharmacodynamic SLN compared...
Background Government of India is committed to eliminate measles and control rubella/congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) by 2020. In 2016, CRS surveillance was established in five sentinel sites. We analyzed data describe the epidemiology India. Methodology/Principal findings used case definitions adapted from WHO-recommended standards for surveillance. Suspected patients underwent complete clinical examination including cardiovascular system, ophthalmic assessment hearing impairment. Sera...
Background Kidney involvement has been reported frequently in people with Dengue virus infection (DVI). We evaluated the patterns of renal DVI and its effect on morbidity mortality. Materials Methods This study was conducted 170 patients hospitalized dengue fever a tertiary care hospital between July 2022 September 2023. Patients were tested for clinical laboratory parameters, including urine routine microscopy, spot protein/creatinine ratio, ultrasonography. followed up four 12 weeks....
The present study was carried out between July 2003 and December 2005 in PGIMER, Chandigarh, India aimed to compare IgM capture ELISA nested RT-PCR for the diagnosis of Japanese encephalitis (JE). samples collected were cerebrospinal fluid blood from 40 febrile patients with (n=40, group I) without residing JE endemic areas (n=45, II). Overall, CSF specific RNA detected 9/40 (22.5%), while 7/28 (25%) showed presence antibodies. Only 28 could be subjected both and, among these, 13 cases found...
Abstract Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is implicated in many outbreaks of viral hepatitis the Indian subcontinent. The conventional diagnosis such rests on detection anti‐HEV IgM antibodies. However, antibodies develop after 4–5 days infection. An early‐diagnostic marker imperative for timely outbreak and also initiation control measures. This study aimed to determine use antigen as an early diagnostic comparison RT‐PCR analyses. Forty samples were collected during a suspected due HEV. A total 36...
Abstract Background Although the pediatric population has largely remained free of severe COVID-19 symptoms, in some cases, SARS-CoV-2 infection been associated with complications such as multiple inflammatory syndrome children (MIS-C). We identified another a unique form hepatitis occurring subsequent to asymptomatic infection, designated by us COVID-19–associated (CAH-C), subset who presented hepatitis. Objective Our study describes clinical presentations, temporal association, and viral...
Aplastic anemia is characterized by pancytopenia with hypoplastic bone marrow. Various factors including viral infections have been implicated as the precipitating factors. Human parvovirus B19 has associated red-cell aplasia, leukopenia, and thrombocytopenia. The present study was carried out to determine role of in aplastic patients. Twenty-seven patients 20 healthy controls were tested for presence infection detecting B19-specific IgM ELISA DNA PCR. Parvovirus detected significantly...
Bal A, Suri V, Mishra B, Bhalla Agarwal R, Abrol Ratho R K & Joshi (2012) Histopathology 60, 326–335 Pathology and virology findings in cases of fatal influenza A H1N1 virus infection 2009–2010 Aims: To describe the pathological findings, immunohistochemical localization viral antigen tissue reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) different organs from North India. Methods results: Nine patients positive for by a throat swab real‐time RT‐PCR (rRT‐PCR) were included....
Viral hepatitis E clinically ranges between acute self-limiting (AVH) and liver failure (ALF). The varied clinical course of the disease possibly thought to be immune-mediated. High-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) is a non-histone chromosomal nuclear protein with recently discovered pro-inflammatory immunomodulatory action. Its presence in abundance within hepatocytes provoking patients hepatitis. The present study was designed elucidate role circulating HMGB1 its gene expression viral E.Blood...
The oral mucosal lesions of patients with pemphigus vulgaris are known to show more treatment refractoriness than skin lesions. To identify which clinical and laboratory parameters may indicate in vulgaris. This was a prospective study 50 adults lesions; were given appropriate for overall disease severity. Treatment defined arbitrarily as less 75% reduction objective Autoimmune Bullous Skin Disorder Intensity Score (ABSIS) after 6 months.Of 46 who completed the study, 17 (37%) refractory...
The antiviral and immunomodulatory role of vitamin D has been shown in various viral infections. However, there is scanty literature available about the effect supplementation herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) infection. Therefore, present study aimed to evaluate two different forms D: 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25D3) 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin (1,25D3) against HSV-1 HeLa cells. cells were supplemented with either 25D3 or 1,25D3 before infection studied after 6, 12, 24 h postinfection (p.i.). mRNA levels...
Abstract Background & Aims There is emerging data on the use of Sofosbuvir‐based directly acting antiviral (DAA) drug regimens in chronic hepatitis C (CHC) patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) maintenance haemodialysis (MHD). We evaluated safety and efficacy Sofosbuvir plus Velpatasvir fixed‐dose combination CHC ESRD MHD. Methods Fifty‐one MHD were included a real‐life prospective study. All irrespective genotype; presence cirrhosis; treatment naive or experienced status treated...
Abstract Viral hepatitis E is an under‐estimated clinical entity with high mortality (20%–30%), especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. As complications due to virus (HEV) pregnancy much greater, it hypothesized that HEV may cross placenta and replicate placental tissues even weeks after clearance from blood, cytokines play a role immunopathogenesis A total 12 pregnant women features acute viral hepatitis/acute liver failure positive for either HEV‐immunoglobulin M (IgM)/HEV‐RNA 30...
Abstract Aim: To test the immunogenicity and safety of Hepatitis B (HB) vaccination during pregnancy passive transfer antibodies to newborn. Methods: Ninety‐nine HBsAg‐negative pregnant women were divided randomly in two groups; group I was given two, II three doses recombinant vaccine followed up until 4 months after delivery. Results: The safe. maternal anti‐HB antibody levels at delivery significantly higher dose schedule as compared schedule. Similarly, newborns 2 post‐delivery but...
