This report presents a short summary of the activities "Standard Model" working group for "Physics at TeV Colliders" workshop (Les Houches, France, 12-30 June, 2023).
An efficient parallel implementation of the Fast Multipole Method (FMM) combined with fast Fourier transform (FFT) is presented in this paper. The good scaling properties FMM-FFT, a smart parallelization strategy, has been shown to be very effective when using large supercomputers. A challenging problem more than 150 million unknowns solved, demonstrating that proposed FMM-FFT constitutes real alternative frequently used multilevel approaches, such as Multilevel FMM (MLFMA). Even...
Different industrial and medical situations require the non-invasive extraction of information from inside bodies. This is usually done through tomographic methods that generate images based on internal body properties. However, image reconstruction involves a mathematical inverse problem, for which accurate resolution demands large computation time capacity. In this paper we explore use Machine Learning to develop an solver reconstructing Electrical Impedance Tomography in real-time. We...
Abstract We review the state of art and recent advances in quantum computing applied to derivative pricing computation risk estimators like Value at Risk. After a brief description financial derivatives, we first main models numerical techniques employed assess their value on classical computers. then describe some most popular algorithms for VaR. Finally, discuss remaining challenges achieve potential advantages.
A muon beam polarimeter has been built for the SMC experiment at CERN SPS, energies of 100 to 200 GeV. The polarisation is determined from energy spectrum positrons decay μ+ → e+ νcνμ. − 0.82 measured with a relative systematic accuracy 3%.
The study of a language in terms programmability is very interesting issue parallel programming. Traditional approaches this field have studied different methods, such as the number Lines Code or analysis programs, order to prove benefits using paradigm compared another. Nevertheless, these methods usually focus only on code analysis, without giving much importance conditions development process and even learning stage, disadvantages reported by programmers. In paper we present methodology...
The purpose of this present work is to share the new developments manufacturing support services. They are based on a set tools available and accessible through Internet, mainly oriented Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This business comprised three main streams: Computer-aided engineering (CAE) software packages, Product Life Cycle (PLM) tool, an Open Innovation (OI) platform. These services output CloudPyme2 project (CPP2). It has goal providing innovation for product development processes...
Abstract The integration of quantum processing units (QPUs) in a heterogeneous high-performance computing environment requires solutions that facilitate hybrid classical–quantum programming. Standards such as OpenCL the programming environments, consisting CPUs and hardware accelerators. This study presents an innovative method incorporates QPU functionality into OpenCL, standardizing processes within classical environments. By leveraging QPUs quantum–classical computations can be sped up,...
We report a large enhancement of 1.7 in deuteron polarization up to values 0.6 due frequency modulation the polarizing microwaves two liters polarized target using method dynamic nuclear polarization. This was used during deep inelastic muon-deuteron scattering experiment at CERN. Measurements electron paramagnetic resonance absorption spectra show that gives rise additional microwave spectral wings. Although these results are not understood theoretically, they may provide useful testing...
Cosmic rays of a wide range energies are arriving permanently to the Earth coming from Sun or beyond our solar system. Their study is interest for many fields research. A high granularity and time resolution cosmic ray tracking detector, TRAGALDABAS, based on timing RPC cells, has been recently installed at Faculty Physics Univ. Santiago de Compostela, in Spain, order go deeper into understanding surface. In this article, layout main performances detector shown together some expected...
In this paper, we review the state of art two key hardware technologies that support vehicular applications: on-board embedded systems and wireless sensor networks (WSN). We focus on pre-competitive or state-of-the-art hardware, illustrate its use with case studies: on-line navigation assistance data collection in a mobile WSN. first (based joint collaboration within project FUNCMOV PGIDIT05TIC00501CT, Xunta de Galicia, Spain), describe our development experience automotive systems. second...
Abstract We present a massively parallel version of the single‐level fast multipole method, which allows efficient use hundreds processors. A very large problem with more than 32 millions unknowns is solved in 512 processors, becomes new record scalability for this kind problems. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Research on cosmic rays is of big interest either for getting a better understanding about their origin and properties or because they offer very valuable information the galactic, solar Earth's environment. In order to improve our knowledge all those fields, high resolution ray tracking detector, TRAGALDABAS, being commissioned at Faculty Physics Univ. Santiago de Compostela (Spain). this article we make overview main performances detector present some preliminary results showing that...
The 10-probe NMR system for measuring the polarization in deuterated butanol target of Spin Muon Collaboration is presented. It calibrated by determining integrated spectrum thermal equilibrium at 1 K. Thermal stabilization and control electromagnetic interference were effective reducing drift electronic noise, so that high quality signals obtained. calibration constant was determined with a reproducibility 2%. Systematic effects circuit magnetic field shift have been studied. resulting 4.4%...
As size and architectural complexity of High Performance Computing systems increases, the need for productive programming tools languages becomes more important. The UPC language aims to be a good choice parallel programming. However, productivity is influenced not only by expressiveness language, but also its performance. To assess current performance in high multicore systems, therefore help improve developers future productivity, this paper provides an up-to-date evaluation at various...
