北海道育成のコムギ品種ハルユタカは, 西日本暖地で栽培すると登熟期間を通じて緑色表面積指数(GAI)が高いものの, 純同化率(NAR)が低く, 個体群成長速度(CGR)が低くなるために粒重が低下する. ハルユタカは群落が過繁茂となるため, これら現象がみられると仮定し, 止葉, 第2葉を残して止葉期に下位葉をすべて取り除いた下位葉除去処理と発生した分げつをすべて取り除いた分げつ除去処理を行い, 過繁茂を解消することでNARおよび粒重が増加するかどうかについて検討した. 下位葉除去処理は, 年次によってはハルユタカの千粒重を増加した. その際, 処理により登熟期間のNARが増加し, CGRが増加した. さらに下位葉除去処理はハルユタカの開花期から乳熟期にかけて稈の可溶性炭水化物含有率を高め, 成熟期にこれを子実へと転流させていることが示唆された. 分げつ除去処理は, ハルユタカの千粒重を高めたものの, 穂数が減少して粒数が大きく減少した. 下位葉除去処理の結果は, ハルユタカが粒数を十分に確保し, ソース/シンク比を大きく減少させたとしても,...
