Candida glabrata is a commensal yeast of the gastrointestinal tract and skin humans. However, it causes opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients, second most common pathogen causing bloodstream infections. Although there are many studies on epidemiology C. infections, fine- large-scale geographical nature remain incompletely understood. Here we investigated both population structure through genome sequencing 80 clinical isolates obtained from six tertiary hospitals Qatar by...

BackgroundCentral nervous system (CNS) viral infections are an important cause of morbidity and mortality. No data available regarding their epidemiology in Qatar.DesignWe retrospectively evaluated all cerebrospinal fluid findings from January 2011–March 2015 at Hamad Medical Corporation. Those with abnormal CSF finding were included our study. We excluded those missing medical records, no clinical evidence CNS infection, or proven bacterial, fungal tuberculosis infection. classified as...

Candida auris is an emerging, multidrug-resistant fungal pathogen that has become a public health threat with increasing incidence of infections worldwide. spreads easily among patients within and between hospitals. Infections outbreaks caused by C. have been reported in the Middle East region including Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar; however, origin these isolates largely unknown. Pathogen whole genome sequencing (WGS) was used to determine epidemiology drug resistance mutations Qatar....

BACKGROUND:Cytotoxic lesions of the corpus callosum (CLOCC) is a rare clinical and radiological syndrome that has been associated with various infectious etiologies. CLOCC are among recently described neurological associations severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in patients disease 2019 (COVID-19). BACKGROUND:Primary pituitary tuberculosis (in absence of other organ involvement and constitutional symptoms) is an extremely rare disease with total reported cases in the literature fewer than a hundred. Misdiagnosis as adenoma common late diagnosis can result permanent endocrine dysfunction and/or long-term neurologic sequelae. CASE REPORT:We report on case middle-aged woman who presented severe headache left third cranial nerve palsy. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed large tumor...

Infection due to Nocardia is reported mainly in immunocompromised patients. It usually presents as a pulmonary or disseminated disease with predilection for the brain. Infections are rare etiology of intracranial vascular aneurysms. Herein we report case otitidiscaviarum (N. otitidiscaviarum) young female newly diagnosed systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) complicated by development an infectious aneurysm. Tuberculous mastitis (TBM) is relatively rare disease with an incidence ranging between 0.1 and 4%. Most of the cases are culture negative often mistaken chronic benign idiopathic granulomatous (IGM). It very crucial to distinguish TBM from other causes as treatment differs tremendously.
