An important step in developing individualized treatment strategies is correct identification of subgroups a heterogeneous population to allow specific for each subgroup. This article considers the problem using samples drawn from consisting with different mean values, along certain covariates. We propose penalized approach subgroup analysis based on regression model, which heterogeneity driven by unobserved latent factors and thus can be represented subject-specific intercepts. apply...

Functional data analysis has received considerable recent attention and a number of successful applications have been reported. In this paper, asymptotically simultaneous confidence bands are obtained for the mean function functional regression model, using piecewise constant spline estimation. Simulation experiments corroborate asymptotic theory. The band procedure is illustrated by analyzing CD4 cell counts HIV infected patients.

In quantile linear regression with ultrahigh-dimensional data, we propose an algorithm for screening all candidate variables and subsequently selecting relevant predictors. Specifically, first employ partial correlation screening, then apply the extended Bayesian information criterion (EBIC) best subset selection. Our proposed method can successfully select predictors when are highly correlated, it also identify that make a contribution to conditional quantiles but marginally uncorrelated or...

It has been a long history of using interactions in regression analysis to investigate alterations covariate-effects on response variables. In this article, we aim address two kinds new challenges arising from the inclusion such high-order effects model for complex data. The first kind concerns situation where interaction individual covariates are weak but those combined strong, and other pertains presence nonlinear interactive directed by low-effect covariates. We propose class...

Summary We consider the problem of estimating a relationship nonparametrically using regression splines when there exist both continuous and categorical predictors. combine global properties with local kernel functions to handle presence predictors rather than resorting sample splitting as is typically done accommodate their presence. The resulting estimator possesses substantially better finite‐sample performance either its frequency‐based peer or cross‐validated linear even additive (when...

Single index models offer greater flexibility in data analysis than linear but retain some of the desirable properties such as interpretability coefficients. We consider a pseudo-profile likelihood approach to estimation and testing for single-index quantile regression models. establish asymptotic normality coefficient estimator well optimal convergence rate nonparametric function estimation. Moreover, we propose score test based on gradient likelihood, employ penalized procedure perform...

Efficient human-to-human transmission is a prerequisite for novel influenza virus to cause an pandemic; however, the genetic determinants of are still not fully understood. In this study, we compared respiratory droplet transmissibilities four H7N9 viruses that closely related and found these have dissimilar in guinea pigs: A/Anhui/1/2013 (AH/1) transmitted efficiently, whereas other three did transmit. The nontransmissible one eight amino acid differences with AH/1 virus. To investigate...

Abstract Understanding treatment heterogeneity is essential to the development of precision medicine, which seeks tailor medical treatments subgroups patients with similar characteristics. One challenges achieving this goal that we usually do not have a priori knowledge grouping information respect effect. To address problem, consider heterogeneous regression model allows coefficients for variables be subject-dependent unknown information. We develop concave fusion penalized method...

Extensive literature has been proposed for the analysis of correlated survival data. Subjects within a cluster share some common characteristics, e.g., genetic and environmental factors, so their time-to-event outcomes are correlated. The frailty model under proportional hazards assumption widely applied clustered outcomes. However, prediction performance this method can be less satisfactory when risk factors have complicated effects, nonlinear interactive. To deal with these issues, we...
