Mesenchymal stromal cells are a promising option to treat knee osteoarthritis. Their safety and usefulness must be confirmed the optimal dose established. We tested increasing doses of bone marrow mesenchymal (BM-MSCs) in combination with hyaluronic acid randomized clinical trial.A phase I/II multicenter trial active control was conducted. Thirty patients diagnosed OA were randomly assigned intraarticularly administered alone (control), or together 10 × 10(6) 100 cultured autologous BM-MSCs,...
Abstract Background Mesenchymal stromal cells are a safe and promising option to treat knee osteoarthritis as previously demonstrated in different clinical trials. However, their efficacy, optimal dose addition of adjuvants must be determined. Here, we evaluated the effects 100 × 10 6 bone marrow mesenchymal (BM-MSCs) combination with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRGF®) adjuvant randomized trial. Methods A phase II, multicenter, trial active control was conducted. Sixty patients diagnosed OA were...
Polymer-ceramic composites obtained as the result of a mineralization process hold great promise for future tissue engineering. Simulated body fluids (SBFs) are widely used polymer scaffolds. In this work an exhaustive study with aim optimizing on poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) macroporous scaffold has been performed. We observed that when air plasma treatment is applied to PLLA its hydroxyapatite nucleation ability considerably improved. However, only allows apatite deposition surface but not...
Background: Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BM-MSC) therapy has emerged as a safe and feasible treatment option for patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). However, the role of adjuvants remains unclear. Our aim was to evaluate clinical radiological effects hyaluronic acid (HA) in comparison platelet-rich plasma (PRP) 100 × 106 BM-MSCs OA. Methods: We used data from two randomized, parallel-group controlled trials which tested efficacy BM-MSC, previously published 2016 (Clinical...
The influence of culture substrate stiffness (in the kPa range) on chondrocyte behavior has been described. Here we describe response to variations in a soft range (2-20 Pa), as it may play role understanding cartilage physiopathology. We developed system for cell substrates with different elastic moduli using collagen hydrogels and evaluated chondrocytes after 2, 4, 7 days monolayer three-dimensional (3D) cultures. Experiments were performed normoxia hypoxia order effect low oxygen...
Study Design. The authors present an unusual case of pure traumatic bilateral lumbosacral dislocation in a 5-year-old boy, the conservative treatment carried out, and long-term result. Objectives. To describe rare lesion children evaluate result obtained with treatment. Summary Background Data. Watson-Jones was first to this type lesion. Since then, only few cases have been added. Most suggest that open reduction should be out. No injury reported. Methods. A boy hit region rocking chair....
The use of autologous chondrocytes in cartilage repair is limited because loss the phenotype during expansion. mechanosensing capacity suggests evaluating soft substrates for vitro Our aim was to test expansion on collagen hydrogels improve their chondrogenesis after a number passages.Rat cells were expanded and plastic, preservation chondrogenic tested both vivo. expression relevant markers each surface measured by real-time PCR (polymerase chain reaction). Expanded then implanted focal...
Summary Twenty-two patients with 25 neural injuries at the elbow joint were reviewed. Follow-up lasted 2 years after surgery. Mean age was 9.4 years. Findings surgery revealed discontinuity of affected nerve trunk in eight cases; 17 cases showed a constrictive lesion continuity. Surgical technique involved repair by interfascicular grafting six lesions, two epineural suture, and neurolysis. The mean interval between injury 10.1 months (range, 1–40). Motor sensory function assessment...
This paper aims to establish the theoretical and empirical link between structural change financial fragility based on theories of Thirllwall's Law Minsky's instability. In order do so, a descriptive econometric panel analysis is carried out for 1846 Colombian companies during period 1996-2015. A new indicator created, from this relationship established company's balance sheets, change, economic growth, size firm, Minsky effect that measures endogeneity debt cycle.
