Large axial magnetic anisotropy and SMM behavior are achieved in a series of Co( ii ) complexes with robust trigonal prismatic geometry imparted by macrocyclic ligand. Theoretical insights reveal more negative D -value weaker field coligand.

In the presence of carboxypeptidase, hydrolytically stable complex [Os(η6-pcym)(L2)Cl]PF6 (2) partially released bioactive substituent indomethacin, bound through amide bond to chelating 2-(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)pyridine-based moiety L2. Stability in other relevant biomolecules (GSH, NADH, GMP) and cancer cell viability were also studied.
