New chiral nitrones 7 and 12, easily prepared from d-xylose by multistep synthetic routes, undergo regioselective 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions with N-vinylated bases (uracil, adenine) giving isoxazolidinyl nucleosides in good yields. Attack of the dipolarophile on Z-configuration nitrone through exo endo transition states si face (C-1′/C-3 erythro) affords C-3/C-5 cis (exo) trans (endo) isoxazolidines as two major isomers.

Cottontail papilloma tissue stored in 50% glycerine at 4°C remains infective and capable of producing confluent papillomatosis for as long 20 years. A short and effective method for preparation isolation of furan-2,5-dicarboxylic acid has been developed.Furan-2,5-dicarboxylic was prepared directly from furan-2-carboxylic in one step under strong basic conditions using carbon dioxide.This allows to obtain the product with high added value, acid, natural sources such as hemicelluloses containing pentoses.
