Microparticles of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate- co -3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) and poly( ε -caprolactone) (PCL) containing resveratrol were successfully prepared by simple emulsion/solvent evaporation. All formulations showed suitable encapsulation efficiency values higher than 80%. PHBV microparticles revealed spherical shape with rough surface presence pores. PCL spherically shaped smooth surface. Fourier-transformed infrared spectra demonstrated no chemical bond between polymers. X-ray powder...

One of the most used plastics in world is poly(ethylene terephthalate), PET, which on top list recyclable polymers. In this work, it was studied chemical recycling PET by alcoholysis reaction using diethylene glycol (DEG) and sodium metasilicate (NaMs) as catalyst. This catalyst not before for kind showed an activity good compound (zinc acetate). The PET‐polyol produced with conditions that higher weight yield final product polyurethane (PU) adhesives compositions. PUs were obtained...

Abstract Two series of poly(ester urethane)s were prepared, containing polycaprolactone (PCL) as the soft segment with molecular weights 530 and 2000. In each series, soft‐segment/hard‐segment ratio was varied, morphological changes monitored differential scanning calorimetry, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, wide‐angle X‐ray scattering, electron microscopy techniques. The polyurethanes longer PCL segments retained their crystallinity, whereas those shorter did not. A model is proposed,...

Abstract This work studies the possibility of reusing flexible postconsumed polyurethane foams modified by grafting with polystyrene as a sorbent material for mitigation oil spills. Different were evaluated via crude sorption and retention experiments, density, morphological analyses. The best performance chemically under different conditions (initiator concentration, styrene volume, reaction time) in system initiated oxi‐reduction Ce(IV) from an amoniacal ceric nitrate solution. A...

Poly(3-hydroxybutirate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) microparticles containing a water-soluble model drug, metformin hydrochloride (MH), were obtained by double emulsion/solvent evaporation technique. Several formulations prepared in order to investigate the influence of each composition on encapsulation efficiency (EE). The highest value EE (9.76%) was using simultaneously pH alkalinization and NaCl addition external water phase formulation. SEM study revealed spherical morphology rough...

Abstract In the present study, epoxidation and ozonolysis led to a decrease of 40.8 51.9 % in degree unsaturation corn oil, respectively. Both products were initially characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy 1 H‐ 13 C‐nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies. The heteronuclear single‐quantum correlation (HSQC) analysis polyol obtained showed that carbinol hydrogen signals, located between 3.65 3.47 ppm, correlated carbon signals 74.4 71.7 ppm. HSQC revealed these same...

Hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene and tolylene diisocyanate were used to prepare two series of polyurethanes by a two-step process. In the first series, prepolymers chain-extended with aliphatic compounds (1,3-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol 1,6-hexanediol) in second, an aromatic chain extender (dihydroxy isopropyl-N-aniline) was used. Some results from mechanical testing showed different trends comparison previously reported for similar systems. These findings interpreted terms reactant...
