Seroepidemiological studies have revealed that influenza C virus is widely distributed globally. However, because the isolation of this difficult, there been few reports on its clinical features.Between December 1990 and November 2004, 84,946 respiratory-tract specimens were obtained from patients < or = 15 years old. Human enterovirus species A (HEV-A) consists of at least 16 members different serotypes that are known to be the causative agents hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), herpangina, other diseases, such as respiratory polio-like flaccid paralysis. Enterovirus 71 (EV71) coxsackievirus A16 (CVA16) major HFMD. CVA5, CVA6, CVA10, CVA12 mainly cause herpangina or occasionally involved with sporadic cases We have previously shown human scavenger receptor class B, member 2 (SCARB2) is a cellular for...

Phylogenetic analysis of 45 enterovirus 71 (EV71) isolates for 6 years in Yamagata, Japan, clarified that the annual outbreak hand-foot-and-mouth disease was due to four genetically distinct subgenogroups, including a novel "B5." Our results suggest importation EV71 from surrounding countries has had major epidemiological impact on local community used our study.

In this study, we characterized the antigenicity tissue specificity an attenuated strain EV71 [EV71(S1-3′)], which belongs to genotype A, in monkey infection model. Three cynomolgus monkeys were inoculated EV71(S1-3′), followed by lethal challenge parental virulent EV71(BrCr-TR) via intravenous route on day 45 postinoculation EV71(S1-3′). Monkeys...

ABSTRACT To clarify the epidemiology of enterovirus 68 (EV68), which is one most rarely identified enteroviruses, virus isolation and molecular screening using RT‐PCR was performed on 6307 respiratory specimens collected at pediatric clinics in Yamagata, Japan between 2005 2010. In years 2005–2009, 10, 1, 2, 0, 2 (40) EV68‐positive cases, respectively, were by RT‐PCR. 2010, 40 cases altogether: only, 26 12 both Phylogenetic analysis indicated that plural genetically distinct clusters...

We 4-year study HCoVs by analyzing 4,342 respiratory specimens obtained Yamagata, Japan, between January 2010 and December 2013. A pan-coronavirus reverse transcription-PCR screening assay was performed, all HCoV-positive were subsequently confirmed sequencing the PCR products. detected 332 (7.6%) HCoV strains during period, comprising 133 (3.1%)...

ABSTRACT Here, we show that human parainfluenza viruses and Sendai virus (SeV), like other respiratory viruses, use TMPRSS2 for their activation. The membrane fusion proteins of often possess serine glutamine residues at the P2 P3 positions, respectively, but these were not critical cleavage by TMPRSS2. However, mutations affected SeV growth in specific epithelial cell lines, suggesting importance replication epithelia.
