Background. Invasive fusariosis remains an aggressive, albeit infrequent infection in immunocompromised patients. Methods. We identified all cases of invasive between January 2002 and December 2014. recorded patient characteristics including clinical presentation, treatment, outcomes at 6 12 weeks after diagnosis, as well species identification antifungal drug susceptibilities. Results. Fifteen patients were diagnosed with proven (12, 80%) or probable (3, 20%) fusariosis. Median age was 60...

Abstract Acquired aplastic anemia (AA) is an immune-mediated disorder leading to bone marrow failure characterized by pancytopenia, with infectious and bleeding complications. The disease course may be complicated paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), necessitating screening flow cytometry (FC) at the time of AA diagnosis. Management strategies vary based on severity. Severe patients are usually heavily transfusion-dependent (HT-AA) typically treated antithymocyte globulin, calcineurin...

Abstract Background Polycythemia vera (PV) and essential thrombocythemia (ET) are linked to increased risk of cardiovascular morbidity mortality. In addition the reduction in arterial thrombotic events, statins may prevent venous thrombosis including among patients with cancer. As previous registry‐ claims‐based studies revealed that use improve survival various malignancies we evaluated their impact on outcomes older adults PV ET. Methods We identified 4010 (aged 66–99 years at diagnosis) (...

Patients with classical Philadelphia chromosome-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), including polycythemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythemia (ET), and primary secondary myelofibrosis (MF), are known to have an increased risk of second malignancies (SMs). Hydroxyurea (HU) is a guideline-recommended cytoreductive therapy for patients at high MPNs. Controversy exists as whether HU use associated higher SMs, acute myeloid leukemia (AML) myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). We conducted...

With approximately 750 cases reported, Erdheim-Chester disease is an exceedingly rare histiocyte cell disorder. Affected sites typically include long bones, large vessels and central nervous system. However, cutaneous pulmonary involvement can also occur. The diagnosis ascertained by identification of foamy histiocytes positive for CD68, CD163, factor XIIIa on immunoperoxidase staining. Recently published literature have described association between BRAF V600E mutation. This finding...

The FLT3 inhibitor quizartinib has been shown to improve overall survival when added intensive induction chemotherapy ("7 + 3") in patients 18-75 years old with newly diagnosed AML harboring a FLT3-ITD mutation. However, the health economic implications of this approval are unknown. We evaluated cost-effectiveness using partitioned analysis model. One-way and probabilistic sensitivity analyses were conducted. In base case scenario, addition 7 3 resulted incremental costs $289,932 compared...

We investigated immune cytopenia in multiple myeloma (MM) patients with concurrent acquired aplastic anemia (AA), focusing on three clinical cases treated plasma cell-directed therapy. All achieved partial response MM and one patient experienced complete resolution of AA. Two had improvement transfusion requirement but continued to suffer from severe AA, leading immunosuppressive therapy (IST) both patients.

Clinical trials are crucial for improving patient outcomes. Although a significant number of discontinued prematurely, our understanding factors influencing early termination is limited. We conducted comprehensive search ClinicalTrials.gov to identify leukemia from 2000 2020, followed by data abstraction performed two independent reviewers. Among 3522 clinical identified, 28.4% were terminated prematurely. Slow accrual was the leading cause 38.2%. The rate increased significantly 17.0%...
