The neural underpinnings of sensory processing differences in autism remain poorly understood. This prospective magnetoencephalography ( MEG ) study investigates whether children with show atypical cortical activity the primary somatosensory cortex S 1) comparison matched controls. Tactile stimuli were clearly detectable, and painless taps applied to distal phalanx second D 2) third 3) fingers right left hands. Three tactile paradigms administered: an oddball paradigm (standard 3 at...
Background and Purpose: More than half of patients with acute ischemic stroke have minor neurological deficits; however, the frequency outcomes reperfusion therapy in regular practice has not been well-delineated. Methods: Analysis US National Inpatient Sample hospitalizations mild deficits (National Institutes Health Stroke Scale [NIHSS] score 0–5) from October 1, 2016, to December 31, 2017. Patient- hospital-level characteristics associated use outcome therapies were analyzed. Primary...
Injectable cosmetic fillers have dramatically risen in popularity recent years. However, as the use of such has become more common, there been many reports vision loss secondary to misplaced filler embolizing ophthalmic artery resulting ocular ischemia. Currently, are no randomized control trials or widely validated clinical guidelines that dictate how injectors should manage ischemic complications embolism. This review aims explain possible mechanisms by which a embolus can occlude artery,...
Introduction Distal medium vessel occlusion (DVO) thrombectomy has been shown to be efficacious with safety profiles comparable large (LVO) thrombectomy. A novel, highly-trackable, bevel-tipped Zoom 35 catheter can used as an aspiration for DVO Methods This is a retrospective, single-arm, multi-institutional observational study evaluating the efficacy and of using catheter. Patient demographics, presenting discharge NIHSS, primary rescue thrombectomy, site occlusion, TICI score, intracranial...
Cerebral acidosis is a consequence of secondary injury mechanisms following traumatic brain (TBI), including excitotoxicity and ischemia, with potentially significant clinical implications. However, there remains an unmet need for technology non-invasive, high resolution pH imaging human TBI studying metabolic changes injury. The current study examined 17 patients 20 healthy controls using amine chemical exchange saturation transfer echoplanar (CEST EPI), novel pH-weighted molecular MR...
Introduction Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is a rare event associated with significant pregnancy-associated maternal and neonatal morbidity mortality. The optimal treatment strategy clinical outcome of aSAH in pregnancy remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the utilizations outcomes pregnant people. Methods Using 2010–2018 National Inpatient Sample, we identified all birth hospitalizations women between ages 18 45 aneurysm were included. Multivariate analyses used evaluate...
A young patient with PAPA (pyogenic arthritis, pyoderma gangrenosum, and acne) syndrome developed an unusual cerebral arterial vasculopathy/vasculitis (CAV) that resulted in subarachnoid hemorrhage from a ruptured dissecting posterior artery (PCA) aneurysm. This aneurysm was successfully treated by endovascular coil sacrifice of the affected segment PCA. The made excellent recovery no significant residual neurologic deficit.
Background Neurointerventional robotic systems have potential to reduce occupational radiation, improve procedural precision, and allow for future remote teleoperation. A limited number of single institution case reports series been published outlining the safety feasibility robot-assisted diagnostic cerebral angiography. Methods This is a multicenter, retrospective patients undergoing angiography at three separate institutions – University California, Davis (UCD); Los Angeles (UCLA); San...
Fragile soft clots and stiff remain challenging in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. This study aims to investigate impact clot stiffness on efficacy thrombectomy devices a new aspiration catheter with hydro-separator.The Neurostar has novel hydro-separator technology that macerates by stream saline inside catheter. The two commercially available devices, SOFIA Solitaire stent retriever, were tested this study. We evaluated each device various simple vitro model. also assessed...

Background and Purpose: Large vessel occlusion secondary to intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD-LVO) has an estimated prevalence of 10-30%. Registry-based reports from high volume centers indicate that about 4-7% mechanical thrombectomy (MT) due LVO are accompanied with rescue stenting in the US, yet trend utilization US is unknown. Methods: Analysis National Inpatient Sample strokes or without concomitant October 1st, 2016, December 31st, 2020, was performed. Patient- hospital-level...
