Staphylococcus epidermidis and aureus are currently considered two of the most important pathogens in nosocomial infections associated with catheters other medical implants also main contaminants instruments. However because these species part normal bacterial flora human skin mucosal surfaces, it is difficult to discern when a microbial isolate cause infection or detected on samples as consequence contamination. Rapid identification invasive strains crucial for correctly diagnosing treating...

The development of a capsule around an implant is part the physiological response to foreign body. Capsular contracture most specific and frustrating complication augmentation mammaplasty, lot studies have been devoted it. aim current study examine fine architecture contracted textured implants in humans. Eight capsules from augmented breasts with gel-filled, textured-surface silicone were studied after standard preparation for light scanning electron microscopy, partial digestion sodium...

Background According to recent studies, peripheral nerve decompression in diabetic patients seems not only improve function, but also increase microcirculation; thus decreasing the incidence of foot wounds and amputations. However, while postoperative improvement function is demonstrated, changes microcirculation have been demonstrated yet. The aim this study assess degree after tarsal tunnel release by using transcutaneous oximetry. Patients methods Twenty male aged between 43 72 years old...

<b>Background</b> Microsurgery is very challenging, requiring a high degree of dexterity and manual skills that should be fully trained outside the operating room. Common microsurgery courses usually follow stepwise training approach beginning practice on nonliving models proceeding with live rats. However, rats raises certain issues, including ethical concerns as well associated costs. As such, there an increasing drive toward alternative models. The current article describes three-step...

The presence of HLA-associated genetic factors in patients with multiple skin carcinomas was investigated. 43 affected by basal and squamous cell 220 healthy age-matched controls were typed for 72 HLA-A, B, C, DR antigens. A negative association B-17 (mostly B-58) a positive Cw-3 DR-1 observed carcinomas; similar B-58 seen carcinomas. results this study suggest the resistance to development cancers associated (B-58) antigen.

Balanitis xerotica obliterans, or kraurosis penis, is a chronic progressive scleroatrophic process of the prepuce, and urethral meatus. This syndrome due to lichen sclerosus et atrophicus genital region. We have observed 32 patients, whose ages ranged from 24 78, with different clinical pathologic findings. Clinical symptomatology consisted painful erection secondary impotence, burning, itching, urinary disorders. The treatment in early stages pharmacologic; stenosis meatus, phimosis, scar...

Abstract Background The best method for the postoperative monitoring of flaps in reconstructive surgery is still a matter debate. aim this study to evaluate usefulness an oxygen partial tension system follow‐up series breast flaps, addition traditional periodical clinical evaluations. Patients and Methods Twenty‐one consecutive female patients (mean age: 61 years) who underwent free‐ or pedicled‐flap reconstruction were included study. Fifteen had deep inferior epigastric perforator flap...

Most authors have evaluated the location of lower leg arterial perforators, but little is still known about relationship between network and great saphenous vein (GSV) nerve (SN). The aim this study to evaluate posterior tibial artery cutaneous nerves, superficial venous system in one third leg.Eighteen limbs from cadavers were used for study. compartment selectively injected with a mixture barium sulfate epoxy. specimen CT scanned veins, perforators dissected.A large perforator was found at...

Sir:FigureDespite being in use since 1984, Becker implants still do not have a clearly defined role plastic surgery. Several studies1–3 demonstrated how expander are more prone than other breast prosthetic to short- and long-term complications, necessitating additional surgical procedures. These findings related mainly the greater structural complexity of device itself, leading prolonged manipulation by operator. We performed retrospective study on 82 consecutive patients with 100...

During recent years, sliding flaps have had great popularity owing to their advantages in terms of reliability, ease execution, and good morphofunctional results. The limits these are related the capacity excursion advancement. To improve limits, we describe this article a personal modification flap that extends possibilities coverage distal areas, reducing tensile distress. We report our experience with 19 patients, treated modified various areas body, results without noticeable complications.
