Weight loss, a key indicator of malnutrition in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients, negatively impacts patient prognosis. However, effective nutritional interventions have not been adequately established. Research ALS model mice has shown that L-arginine can prolong survival; however, no human intervention studies conducted. We conducted single-center, single-arm, prospective, open-label, and comparative trial to assess the safety tolerability hydrochloride patients. patients were...

Synthetic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an innovative MRI technology that enables the acquisition of multiple quantitative values, including T1 and T2 proton density, myelin volume, in a single scan. Although usefulness measurement with synthetic has been reported for assessing several diseases, investigations patients stroke have not reported. We aimed to explore utility quantification using predicting outcomes acute ischemic stroke. Patients (n=101) premorbid modified Rankin Scale...

Abstract Background Both fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome (FXTAS) and late-onset neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) show CGG/GGC trinucleotide repeat expansions. Differentiating these diseases are difficult because of the similarity in their clinical radiological features. It is unclear that skin biopsy can distinguish NIID from FXTAS. We performed a an FXTAS case with cognitive dysfunction peripheral neuropathy without tremor, which was initially suspected to be NIID....

Background and purpose Non-invasive, simple, repetitive swallowing evaluation is required to prevent aspiration pneumonia in neurological care. We investigated the usefulness of sound patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) using our new electronic stethoscope artificial intelligence (AI) analysis tool. Methods studied ALS who provided written informed consent. used an stethoscope, placed a Bluetooth-enabled on upper end sternum, performed 3-mL water swallow three times, remotely...

Abstract Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) rarely occurs in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). This report presents the case of a patient who developed PML due to SLE-associated multiple factors. A 60-year-old woman diagnosed SLE undergoing immunosuppressive therapies, including azathioprine, presented cerebral cortical symptoms, lymphocytopenia, and vitamin B12 deficiency was subsequently PML. We evaluated cause disease activity PML, focusing on longitudinal...

Abstract Aspiration pneumonia is the leading cause of death in patients with Parkinson’s disease. The incidence silent aspiration high such owing to decreased pharyngeal and laryngeal sensation; thus, interventions for this condition may help prevent pneumonia. In single-arm, open-label study, we used a cervical percutaneous interferential current stimulation device activate sensory nerves. We evaluated its effectiveness Hoehn–Yahr stages 2–4 primary endpoint was proportion normal cough...

Parkinson's disease (PD) can lead to swallowing dysfunction, resulting in aspiration pneumonia. Among the types of disorders, a characteristic and serious problem associated with PD is silent due pharyngeal laryngeal hypoesthesia. This single-arm, open-label study aims evaluate effectiveness percutaneous neck interferential current sensory stimulation enhancing function patients PD. The efficacy safety will be investigated for diagnosed PD, based on Movement Disorder Society criteria,...

Colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R)-related leukoencephalopathy is an adult-onset caused by mutations in CSF1R. The present study aimed to explore the broader genetic spectrum of CSF1R-related association with clinical and imaging features.Mutational analysis CSF1R was performed for 100 consecutive patients leukoencephalopathy. Sequence copy number variation (CNV) analyses were performed. genomic ranges deletions determined long-read sequencing. Ligand-dependent autophosphorylation...

We present a case with non-convulsive status (NCSE) in which density spectrum array (DSA) illustrated "three little seizures." The conventional EEG was not useful. However, DSA revealed three seizures lasting for 30-40 seconds gradual decrease frequency, along the temporal frequency change. highlights usefulness of detecting NCSE, particularly cases where there is no typical rhythmic and periodic pattern.
