With an increasing number of proton centers capable delivering pencil beam scanning (PBS), understanding the dosimetric differences in PBS compared to passively scattered therapy (PSPT) for pancreatic cancer is interest.Optimized plans were retrospectively generated 11 patients with locally advanced previously treated PSPT 59.4 Gy on a prospective trial. The primary tumor was targeted without elective nodal coverage. same treatment couch, target coverage and normal tissue dose objectives...

To assess the potential benefit of proton therapy (PT) over photon therapy, we compared 3-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT), intensity-modulated (IMRT), and PT plans in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemoradiation for resectable rectal cancer at our institution.Eight consecutive with (T2-T3) cancers underwent 3DCRT, IMRT, treatment planning. Initial target volumes (PTV1) were contoured using Radiation Therapy Oncology Group anorectal atlas guidelines. Boost (PTV2) consisted gross...

Background. Concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) is the standard of care in patients with limited-stage small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Treatment conventional x-ray therapy (XRT) associated high toxicity rates, particularly acute grade 3+ esophagitis and pneumonitis. We present outcomes for first known series SCLC treated proton a dosimetric comparison esophageal doses intensity-modulated radiation (IMRT). Material methods. Our objective was to determine if protons allow for the expansion of treatment volumes cover high-risk nodes in patients with regionally advanced non-small-cell lung cancer. In this study, 5 consecutive underwent external-beam radiotherapy planning. Four plans were generated each patient: 1) photons (x-rays) treat positron emission tomography (PET)-positive gross disease only 74 Gy (XG); 2) 44 and PET-positive (XNG); 3) cobalt gray equivalent (PG); 4) CGE (PNG). We defined as mediastinal,...

In this case report, we present the history and treatment of a 70-year-old man with synchronous bilateral non-small-cell lung cancers proton-beam radiation. Surgical was not feasible optimized photon intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) to primary tumors would have resulted in unacceptably high normal-tissue exposures. Proton-beam radiation enabled dose escalation concurrent chemotherapy while maintaining tolerance.

Evaluate the dosimetric impact of selective/elective nodal treatment with dose-escalated radiotherapy for regionally advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using proton therapy (PT) or intensity-modulated (IMRT). Five consecutive patients NSCLC underwent planning high-dose involved-field (IF) (positron emission tomography-positive gross disease) without irradiation, defined as extended field (EF).
