이 연구의 목적은 여성 피겨스케이팅 선수경력자의 섭식장애 경험을 근거 이론적 방법을 이용하여 밝히는데 있다. 이를 위해 경험이 있는 선수경력자 총 5명을 연구참여자로 선정하였다. 심층 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였으며 수집된 자료는 Strauss와 Corbin(1998)의 개방코딩, 축코딩, 선택코딩 등 절차에 따라 분석하였다. 분석한 패러다임모형을 추출하였으며, 이야기 윤곽을 핵심범주를 연구에서는 자료 분석을 상위범주 16개, 하위범주 25개, 개념 104개 등이 도출되었다. 우선 축코딩 결과, 인과적 조건은 피겨 선수에 대한 고정관념, 신체 불만족, 체중조절만이 살길 등이었으며, 맥락적 코치의 체중조절 압박, 무리한 체중감량 시도, 2차 성징과 체형의 변화 등으로 나타났다. 중심현상은 선수가 인식하는 이상적 내면화이었고, 중재적 교육의 부재, 전문적 치료의 부재 작용/상호작용 전략은 주변 사람의 지지, 자신의 증상에 은폐, 섭식장애/이상섭식에 인식 부족, 이겨내려는 의지...
