We have explored the relationship between epitaxial growth and magnetism in case of ultrathin fcc-Co films by means a multitechnique approach. For high-quality less than 3 monolayers thick Curie temperatures ${\mathrm{T}}_{\mathrm{C}}$ are dramatically lower ${\mathrm{T}}_{\mathrm{C}}^{\mathrm{B}}$ bulk decease distinctly with film thickness. In contrast to previous claims, single monolayer appears be far below 300 K. Substrate topology is found strongly influence structural perfection which...

Sodium batteries (SBs) are a promising alternative to lithium-ion (LIBs) due the abundance, cost-effectiveness, and environmental sustainability of sodium. However, larger ionic radius Na+ leads challenges in electrode stability, limiting performance conventional inorganic cathode materials. Redox-active organic compounds, particularly π-conjugated quinones, have emerged as viable alternative, their tunable electrochemical properties, structural flexibility, enhanced compatibility with Na+....

We report the observation of effects due to spin-orbit interaction in angle-resolved photoemission from an itinerant ferromagnet (fcc cobalt) using circularly polarized vuv synchrotron radiation. This effect may be understood as a form magnetic circular dichroism appearing uv photomission regime. It used investigate phenomena ferromagnets without performing explicit...

1-Hydroxyimidazole-3-oxides (2-H, 2-Me) were alkylated with (RO) 2 SO (R =Me, Et) to give the new 1,3-di(alkyloxy)imidazolium cations which isolated as hexafluorophosphates. Ion metathesis yielded hydrophobic ionic liquids (bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imides, tris(pentafluoroethyl) trifluorophosphates). Bromination afforded 2-bromo derivatives converted Ni and Pd N-heterocyclic carbene complexes by oxidative insertion. Fifteen crystal structures determined X-ray diffraction. The N-alkyloxy...

Sustainable battery concepts are of great importance for the energy storage demands future. Organic batteries based on redox-active polymers one class promising systems to meet these demands, in particular when combined with environmentally friendly and safe electrolytes. Deep Eutectic Solvents (DESs) represent a electrolytes that can be produced from sustainable sources exhibit most cases no or only small environmental impact. Because their non-flammability, DESs safe, while providing an...
