To determine whether a faculty-led mock-interview activity enhanced pharmacy student preparation for the residency interview process and increased match rates.Twenty-eight doctor of students volunteered 40-minute session with 2-person faculty teams. A standard roster 12 questions was derived from published literature members' experience. Feedback on student's performance provided verbally during session. Following interview, were given 2-part survey instrument. The first part administered...
Abstract Background The state-of-the-art in nucleic acid based biodetection continues to be polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and many real-time PCR assays targeting biodefense pathogens for biosurveillance are widespread use. These predominantly singleplex; i.e. one assay tests the presence of target, found a single organism, sample at time. Due intrinsic limitations such tests, there exists critical need high-throughput multiplex reduce time cost incurred when screening multiple targets,...
With the opioid epidemic creating a group of patients with unique health care needs, pharmacists have an opportunity to be good resource for recovering from use disorder (OUD). To accomplish this, it is essential that are knowledgeable and unbiased toward this patient population.Because curriculum in place obtain PharmD at Drake University does not include in-depth information on substance disorders, study investigators offered students receive more intensive education. Faculty members...
In only recent history, illicit use of methamphetamine, once isolated to urban areas on the West Coast, has spread into rural Midwest and southern United States. Although past current methamphetamine legislation increased penalties for manufacturers tightened restrictions sales known precursors, problem still persists. fact, a 2004 survey indicates that an alarming 6.2% high school seniors have tried methamphetamine. A number biological, genetic, environmental factors influence children's...
An increasing number of students are taking medications while they in school or under the influence medication during hours. In a novel effort, clinical pharmacists and mental health therapists worked together to provide “mini-in-service” educational programs on psychological disorders used treat these disorders. The purpose this study was implement evaluate effectiveness presented nurses, teachers, administrators, other personnel. compared participant responses before after attending...
An optimized, well-tested and validated targeted genomic sequencing-based high-throughput assay is currently not available ready for routine biodefense biosurveillance applications. Earlier, we addressed this gap by developing establishing baseline comparisons of a multiplex end-point Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) followed Oxford Nanopore Technology (ONT) based amplicon sequencing to real time PCR customized data processing. Here, expand upon effort identifying the optimal ONT library...

Background: The impact of psychiatric disorders on International Normalized Ratio (INR) control and adverse events for patients receiving warfarin has not been fully elucidated. Objective: To determine the effect depressive other anticoagulation in a pharmacist-managed clinic. Methods: A retrospective chart review evaluated outcomes with no history compare it that either depression or any form disorder. Data was obtained from patient medical records over 24-month period. primary outcome...
Introduction This study analyzed patient satisfaction survey responses in which patients evaluated their experience with the pharmacy staff an acute psychiatric unit. Methods Thirty-one rated services upon discharge by completing a 13-item survey. Results Overall was found to be high 77.4–100% rating reported on every item. Discussion indicated that should focus efforts improving communication selecting quiet meeting location and making themselves more accessible order better serve needs.
Background: “Pimping” is an informal teaching technique that widely used in medical education. Pimping characterized by questioning the learner with intent of reinforcing clinical hierarchy. To date, there are no studies use pimping pharmacy Objectives: describe as a method education and to compare student faculty perceptions this technique. Methods: Faculty fourth-year PharmD (P4) students from 2 colleges were invited participate survey about experiences pimping. P4 surveys each contained...
Mutants of the attenuated Bacillus anthracis (Sterne) strain 7702 that are resistant to phage AP50c have been previously described. Here, we report draft genome assemblies parent strain, several phage-resistant derivatives, and mutants genes in pathways for synthesis assembly S-layer.
