In this study, we wanted to assess the level of antimicrobial resistance, presence genes encoding resistance cephalosporins and plasmid-mediated quinolone (PMQR), genetic relatedness among Shigella isolates obtained from Iranian patients. A total 44 were collected patients admitted Milad Hospital, Tehran, Iran, during 2008–10. Of these, 37 serotyped characterized by MIC determination. subset eight suspected extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL) producers (six sonnei phase II two flexneri type...

Comprehensive data on drug-resistant patterns of Acinetobacter baumannii isolates in developing countries is limited. We conducted a multihospital study to assess the rate and trend phenotypes Ac. using standardized definitions determine remaining therapeutic options against resistant phenotypes. The 401 nonduplicate were collected from six hospitals which are geographically distributed across Tehran, Iran over 3-year period. Following PCR blaOXA-51-like gene, susceptibility testing was...

Aims The present study was conducted to investigate the mechanism of carbapenem resistance and molecular epidemiology carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) isolates collected from two nearby hospitals in Tehran, Iran. Methods Results A total 180 CRAB were studied. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing performed using disk diffusion Epsilometer tests. detection OXA-23, -24 -58 implemented for all polymerase chain reaction. Subsequently, harbouring OXA-24 investigated presence...

The aim of this study was to determine the capsular types Haemophilus influenzae isolated from clinical specimens by slide agglutination serotyping (SAST) and PCR capsule typing methods. All isolates were biotyped their antibiotic resistance patterns also determined. Thirteen serotype b, 2 e, 4 f, 19 nontypeable (NT) identified SAST method in 38 H. culture-positive samples. Capsule increased proportion all invasive cases 34.2% (by SAST) 60.5%, 6 culture-negative samples as (Hib) method....

Background: The occurrence of invasive Candida infections has increased during the past two decades as a result increasing in number immunocompromised patients. Objectives: In this study (cross sectional design), six months, prevalence patterns species isolated from sterile body sites patients admitted to general hospital Milad Intensive Care Units (ICUs) Tehran (Iran), were determined. Methods: Candidal isolates obtained 50 ICUs April September 2013. Identification was performed using...

The aim of this multi-hospital study was to assess the in vitro activity doripenem and its comparators, imipenem meropenem, using new CLSI breakpoints against a large population frequently isolated nosocomial pathogen, Acinetobacter baumannii.During 2-year period, four referral or tertiary hospitals submitted 400 isolates Ac. baumannii for susceptibility testing imipenem, meropenem via disc diffusion E-test methods. A subset 390 resistant all three tested carbapenems. Doripenem (MIC50 , 32...

Pneumococcal infections are a major public health problem, especially in developing countries, and the current pneumococcal vaccines do not cover all pathogenic strains. New, more economical serotype‐independent based on species‐common protein antigens being pursued. The whole‐cell vaccine which is noncapsular common to strains induces immunity. In present study, we developed new candidate for two important virulence factors, capsule pneumolysin, were deleted. Protection was elicited by...
