This study determined the effects of short-term energy inputs on ghrelin secretion and possible links with changes in follicle population or ovulation rate. Oestrous cycle was synchronized 16 Manchega sheep using progestagen sponges cloprostenol. Half animals were treated from days 0 to 4 by oral administration, twice daily, 200 ml a glucogenic mixture containing 70% glycerol, 20% 1,2-propanediol 10% water; control group received water. The mean (± s.e.m. ) plasma glucose increased...

Background: Infection is one of the challenging complications after open reduction and internal fixation for ankle fractures. Previously published case series conclude that Staphylococcus aureus most frequent causative microorganism. An unexpected increase in Enterobacter cloacae infections this surgery was observed a preliminary analysis data at promoting center study. In traumatology, its incidence has been reported chronic osteomyelitis, prosthetic infections, septic osteoarthritis,...

The present work evaluates the possibility of using cross-flow filtration to recover enzymatic activities from commercial enzymes used for peeling mandarin segments. Two ceramic membranes different pore size and molecular weight cut-off were assayed. membrane 40 kDa provided better separation carbohydrates than 0.14 μm size, since readily retained in retentate fraction, while easily passed into permeate fraction. After separation, both fractions (enzymes carbohydrates) could be further used.

Background: Schatzker type VI tibia fractures are usually associated with infection and surgical wound-related problems. Circular external fixation (CEF) has been shown to minimize such complications. Methods: We pose a retrospective study of patients treated CEF. Results: Twenty-two (22) were included (11M/11F) mean age 60.1 ± 14.9 years. According the AO/OTA classification, two (9.1%) A2, three (13.6%) A3, seventeen (77.3%) C3. Three them open. The tissue damage observed in nineteen...
