Orf virus (ORFV) is the etiological agent of Contagious Ecthyma (CE) disease that mainly affects sheep, goats, wild ruminants, and humans with a worldwide distribution. To date, only two strains from Argentinian sheep have been characterized at molecular level there little information on ORFV circulating in Argentina. Here we describe analyze five outbreaks CE goats three geographic regions country: Northwest, Center, Southwest. The phylogenetic analysis based four markers (orf011 partial...

Control and eradication of bovine brucellosis is usually based on the serological detection antibodies. In Argentina, rose bengal test (RB) buffered plate antigen (BPA) are 2 screening tests officially recognized, whereas 2-mercaptoethanol (2ME) tube agglutination (SAT) confirmatory assays currently in use. order to improve diagnosis Patagonia, an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (I-ELISA) kit distributed by International Atomic Energy Agency was evaluated. Sera from negative...

This paper describes an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (I-ELISA) and a fluorescence polarisation (FPA), each capable of detecting antibody in several species hosts to smooth rough members the genus Brucella. The I-ELISA uses mixture lipopolysaccharide (SLPS) (RLPS) as antigen, recombinant protein A/G conjugated with horseradish peroxidase detection reagent. When using individually determined cutoff values, SLPS/RLPS combined-antigen detected slightly more animals exposed SLPS or...

A 5-mo-old great rhea (Rhea americana) gradually became emaciated over a 1-wk period and died. Necropsy revealed several small yellow nodules in the lungs. Microscopically, consisted of granulomas containing numerous thin, 4-µm-diameter, septate, branching fungal hyphae. Aspergillus fumigatus grew readily on Sabouraud dextrose agar. This report appears to be first mycotic pneumonia rheas.
