ABSTRACT Aim To quantify and categorise retrospectively all adverse events occurring during unplanned neonatal emergency interhospital transfers conducted by the Transfer Service of Spedali Civili di Brescia over 3 years. Methods The revised data were extracted from specific questionnaires filled out staff. classified according to an adapted retrieval team model (PANSTAR); risk level was assessed using effective assessment score. Results In 340 transports, 74 identified; 68% them perceived...
Coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak has a growing impact on global health; vertical transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection is still controversial. In this article, we describe case in newborn with and gastrointestinal symptoms.
Non-critically ill neonates at times require venous access to provide peripherally compatible infusions for a limited period (more than 3 days). In such situation, short peripheral cannulas are not appropriate as their average duration is about 2 days, while-on the other hand-epicutaneous-caval catheters may be too invasive. these patients, insertion of long an effective option. In this observational retrospective study, we revised all "long" (4 and 6 cm long) inserted by direct Seldinger...
In the pediatric setting, procurement of vascular access can be particularly difficult. Surgical venolysis was first technique described but, in recent years, literature has shown that ultrasound-guided implantation fewer complications. The principal aim this paper is to state how after a structured training place central lines, definitively abandoned our hospital. We also analyzed impact on duration procedures. Finally, number procedures performed per operator maintain quality standard achieved.
Background: Chest-to-arm (CTA) tunneling technique has been described recently as an alternative option to exit site of the catheter in infraclavicular area. Method: We report our experience with ultrasound-guided centrally inserted central catheters (CICCs) placed using CTA six neonates. All venous were positioned ultrasound guidance and real-time tip location. Results: There no insertion-related complications; all devices correctly at first attempt. During follow-up, we found...
We report the clinical cases of three neonates, all them premature, requiring placement a chest tube for drainage massive pleural effusion. In patients, was secured using new subcutaneously anchored sutureless system. This securement device easy to insert and remove, highly effective in preventing dislodgment. Also, it not associated any undesired effect: no sign pain and/or discomfort skin inflammation. The proved be comfortable harmless even fragile patients as including frailest ones,...
