Abstract Aiming at the influence of underwater acoustic channel (UAC) profile difference on performance communication, a variable observation window length blind equalization detector (VOWL-BED) is proposed in this paper. Compared with existing methods, (OWL) VOWL-BED can be dynamically regulated basis given UAC and finally converge to optimum OWL. We have verified feasibility OWL regulation. To suppress the effects of ultra-wideband receiver caused by non-Gaussian noise and difference channel profile, an adjustable observation window length equalisation based on H∞ criterion is proposed. In contrast to existing fixed (FOWL) receivers minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion, proposed found can adaptively adjust according specific profile.
