Abstract Background Desensitization to antineoplastic agents is becoming a standard of care. Efforts establish and improve these techniques are being made at many institutions. Our aims evaluate new rapid desensitization protocol designed be shorter (approximately 4 h) safer (reducing hazardous drugs exposure risks) assess the oxaliplatin‐specific immunoglobulin E ( I g ) as novel diagnostic tool. Methods Prospective, observational, longitudinal study with patients who, for 1‐year period,...
BACKGROUNDPatients undergoing immune-modifying therapies demonstrate a reduced humoral response after COVID-19 vaccination, but we lack proper evaluation of the effect such on vaccine-induced T cell responses.METHODSWe longitudinally characterized and spike-specific responses in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), who were antimetabolite therapy (azathioprine or methotrexate), TNF inhibitors, and/or other biologic treatment (anti-integrin anti-p40) for up to 6 months completing...
Abstract Background and study aims Endoscopic treatment of non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (NVUGIB) with high-risk adverse outcome (HR-AO) features has a high risk failure. We studied the safety efficacy over-the-scope clips (OTSC) to treat these lesions. Patients methods included patients who were treated using OTSC for NVUGIB from January 2015 October 2017. rebleeding mortality rates used Rockall data our institution’s prior comparison. descriptive chi-square statistics....

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is an immune-mediated liver disease of unknown etiology. Increasing incidence AIH in Asian patients has been reported. However, the phenotypic difference Europe and Asia still not explored. To evaluate clinical presentation, biochemical immunological profiles, treatment response survival outcome type 1 from two tertiary transplant centres (United Kingdom Singapore). Patients who fulfilled simplified diagnostic scoring criteria were included study. with overlap...
Abstract Introduction Severe gastrointestinal dysmotility disorder (GID) constitute approximately 20% of patients requiring home parenteral nutrition (HPN), whereas short‐bowel syndrome (SBS) remains the most frequent indication for HPN. This study's aim was to characterize GID and compare clinical parameters survival SBS patients. Similarly, comparisons between sclerodermaand nonscleroderma were made. Methods Demographic data all extracted from Canadian HPN Registry January 1, 2003,...

Surgical excision entails risk injury to the pancreaticobiliary structures due proximity or communication with cyst. We present a case duodenal cyst in 3 year-old boy who successfully underwent endoscopic decompression. AT is young first presented at 15 months age abdominal pain. There was one subsequent episode pancreatitis. Ultrasonography showed typical...
In line with recent guidance from the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) European Clinical Metabolism (ESPEN) to minimize healthcare team exposure by clustering care relying on other providers or telehealth collect relevant nutrition assessments, our support has adopted a modified workflow using information technology provide parenteral (PN) remotely in safe timely manner. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy usually occurs as a result of catecholamine release causing myocardial ‘stunning’ during physical or emotional stress. Typically coronary angiogram shows normal minor artery disease and echocardiogram apical ballooning with basal wall hyperkinesia. The prognosis is excellent good cardiac functional recovery within days to weeks. We report the first case takotsubo in patient acute-on-chronic liver failure.
