Smart foams: Ultrastable foams with an optimal foamability are obtained using hydroxy fatty acids tubes (see picture). The stabilization results from the adsorption of monomers at air–water interface and presence in plateau borders. Upon heating, transform to micelles, leading foam destabilization thus first exhibit temperature-tuneable stability.

In this study, we investigate the interactions between cellulose surface and Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) for purpose of manufacturing hybrid nanomaterials using bacterial nanocrystals (BCNs) as a model substrate. We focus on role BCN chemistry AgNP nucleation obtained by chemical reduction Ag+ ions. Homogeneous suspensions BCN/AgNP are produced, regardless whether BCNs quasi-neutral, negatively (TBCNs) or positively charged (ABCNs). The characterization hybrids identifies –OH groups points...

Exploring and deciphering the biodiversity of oil bodies (OBs) recovered from oilseeds are growing interest in preparation sustainable, natural healthy plant-based food products. This study focused on chia (Salvia hispanica L.) camelina (Camelina sativa seed OBs. A green refinery process including ultrasound to remove mucilage, aqueous extraction by grinding centrifugation recover OBs seeds was used. The microstructure, composition physical stability were examined. Confocal laser scanning...

We report the dispersions of a fatty acid and hydroxyl derivative salts in aqueous solutions that were further used to produce foams emulsions. The tetrabutyl-ammonium palmitic acid, 12-hydroxy stearic omega-hydroxy formed isotropic micelles, whereas ethanolamine same acids turbid birefringent lamellar solutions. structure dimension those phases confirmed by small-angle neutron scattering NMR. Micelles exhibited surprisingly small radius about 20 Å, even for acids, suggesting formation...

Unsaturated fatty acids may be extracted from various agricultural resources and are widely used as soaps in the industry. However, there also exist a large variety of saturated hydroxy nature, but their metal salts crystallize at room temperature water, hampering use biological chemical studies or for industrial applications. Addition guanidine hydrochloride (GuHCl) to sodium salt myristic acid has been shown prevent its crystallization forming stable flat bilayers temperature. Herein, we...

The binding of a cationic surfactant (hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTAB) to negatively charged natural polysaccharide (pectin) at air−solution interfaces was investigated on single and in foams, versus the linear charge densities polysaccharide. Besides classical methods investigate polymer/surfactant systems, we applied, for first time concerning these analogy between small angle neutron scattering by foams reflectivity films measure situ film thicknesses foams. CTAB/pectin foam are...

We report on dispersions of fatty acid-lysine salts in aqueous solutions which are further used to produce foams. The alkyl chain length is varied from dodecyl stearic. In solutions, the lysine salt yields an isotropic solution, probably micelles, whereas for longer chains, vesicles formed but crystallized upon resting at room temperature or when kept 4 degrees C. Solid-state NMR showed that acids embedded a lamellar arrangement passing gel fluid state heating; transition it occurs was...

Influence of low-methoxyl pectin (LM pectin) and calcium ions (3 mM) on mechanical behavior microstructure bovine serum albumin (BSA) gels (pH 6.8, in 0.1 M NaCl) was evaluated. Protein LM concentrations were fixed at 2, 4, 8 wt % 0.21, 0.43, 0.85 %, respectively. Rheological measurements confocal laser scanning microscopy coupled with texture image analysis by use the co-occurrence method performed. Bio-based aerogels containing cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) are promising materials due to the inherent physical properties of CNF. The high affinity plant hemicelluloses (xyloglucan, xylan, pectin) is also an opportunity develop biomaterials with new properties. Here, we prepared from gelled dispersions CNFs and xyloglucan (XG) at different ratios by using a freeze-casting procedure in unidirectional (UD) non-directional (ND) manners. Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase (LPMO) enzymes have recently shaken up our knowledge of the enzymatic degradation biopolymers and cellulose in particular. This unique class metalloenzymes cleaves other recalcitrant polysaccharides using an oxidative mechanism. Despite their potential biomass saccharification fibrillation, detailed mode action LPMOs at surface fibers still remains poorly understood highly challenging to investigate.
