Abstract Multivalent mannose‐functionalized nanoparticles self‐assembled from amphiphilic β‐cyclodextrins (β‐CDs) facilitate the targeted delivery of anticancer drugs to specific cancer cells. Doxorubicin (DOX)‐loaded equipped with multivalent mannose target units were efficiently taken up via receptor‐mediated endocytosis by MDA‐MB‐231 breast cells that overexpress receptor. Upon entering cell, intracellular pH causes release DOX, which triggers apoptosis. Targeting significantly improved...

The targeted delivery of a photosensitizer (PS) with appropriate carriers represents an attractive means selectively delivering cargo to target tissues or subcellular compartments for photodynamic therapy (PDT). Herein, three-arm distyryl BODIPY derivative conjugated mannose units (denoted by BTM) that can co-assemble Tween 80 form nanomicelles (BTM-NMs) PDT is reported. MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells recognized and specifically internalized BTM-NMs via mannose-receptor-mediated endocytosis...
