The turning point between apoptosis and necrosis induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) have been investigated using human T-lymphoma Jurkat cells. Cells treated with 50 microM H2O2 exhibited caspase-9 caspase-3 activation, finally leading to apoptotic cell death. Treatment 500 did not exhibit caspase activation changed the mode of death necrosis. On other hand, release cytochrome c from mitochondria was observed under both conditions. H2O2, but caused a marked decrease in intracellular ATP...

Fine metal or oxide powder as an alternative to conventional organic matrices in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOFMS) has been utilized successfully for lower molecular analytes, poly(ethylene glycol) 200 (PEG 200) and methyl stearate. Eleven kinds of particle, Al, Mn, Mo, Si, Sn, SnO2, TiO2, W, WO3, Zn ZnO, were evaluated. The analyte was mixed with a (inorganic matrix) particle diameter tens micrometers liquid dispersant, followed by...

Main text Inherited metabolic disorders affect approximately 1 in 1000 babies; amino acid are less frequent, at 6000. Babies diagnosed with require constant monitoring of blood concentration, especially for disease states such as phenylketonuria. In addition, measurement may aid the evaluation several other neurological and nutritional disorders. Free acids healthy patients typically low mg/kg range but, example, elevated phenylalanine indicates phenylketonuria state. Evidence successful...

The oxidative modification of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and subsequent alteration endothelial cell function are generally accepted as an important early event in the pathogenesis atherosclerosis. To understand mechanism by which oxidized LDL (oxLDL) causes dysfunction cells, human umbilical vein cells (HUVEC) were exposed to oxLDL at a concentration that induces cellular dysfunction, proteomic analysis was carried out, together with lipid peroxidation products. Time-dependent...
