Purpose: In this paper, the authors assess accuracy of Brainlab ExacTrac system for frameless intracranial stereotactic treatments in clinical practice. Methods: They recorded couch angle and image fusion results (comprising lateral, longitudinal, vertical shifts, rotation corrections about these axes) 109 radiosurgery 166 radiotherapy patient treatments. Frameless involve iterative 6D applied until conform to customizable pass criteria, theirs being 0.7 mm 0.5° each axis. The planning CT...
Summary Imaging with F‐18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (PET) significantly improves lung cancer staging, especially when PET and CT information are combined. We describe a method for obtaining images at separate acquisitions, which allows coregistration incorporation of into the radiotherapy (RT) planning process non‐small‐cell cancer. The influence on RT was analysed 10 consecutive patients. Computed were acquired patient in an immobilization device, treatment position....
Despite the highly localized doses that may be delivered via stereotactic radiotherapy, a small dose is nonetheless to out-of-field regions, which cause detriment patient. In this work, systematic set of measurements have been undertaken up distance 45 cm from isocentre, for fields shaped by BrainLAB mini-multileaf collimator (MMLC) mounted on Varian 600C linear accelerator. A range treatment parameters were varied so as determine factors greatest influence and establish relationships with...
We propose the application of optical calorimetry to measure peak valley ratio for synchrotron microbeam radiation therapy (MRT). use a modified Schlieren approach known as reference image topography (RIT) which enables one obtain map rate change refractive index in water bath from absorbed dose can be determined with sufficient spatial accuracy determine ratio. modelled calorimetric properties X-rays using heated wire bath. Our RIT system comprised light source, textured object and camera...
The leakage radiation from electron applicators used with our linear accelerator has been measured. For the 6×6 to 25×25 cm size, was measured in plane of patient and on sides available energies 6,9,12,15 18 MeV. levels were significant. highest side for combination 6×6‐cm applicator 9‐MeV electrons (32%) 25×25‐cm MeV (10%) relative peak dose. Adding lead 1–2 mm, at appropriate locations inside reduced leakages acceptable without affecting beam parameters.
Some radiotherapy patients are treated with titanium surgical aneurysm clips in the radiation field. This is of particular importance for stereotactic radiosurgery brain treatments, where length blade clip may be comparable to size study seeks determine extent dosimetric effects caused by radiosurgery, using polyacrylamide gel phantoms and EBT type Gafchromic films. Using scanned magnetic resonance imaging scanner, dose enhancement around 20% was noted at distances less than 2 mm away from...
The PET image quality can be degraded due to respiratory motion artifacts. To improve quality, gating techniques utilizing the tracking information are able compensate for motion. In this paper, we present a method that utilizes geometric sensitivity feature of 3D-PET scanner system operating in list event acquisition mode. phase determined from count rate changes which suitable temporal resolution list-mode data stream. This has several advantages over existing methods; it only uses LOR...
The effective use of near water equivalent organic plastic scintillators (OPS) for radiation dosimetry with high-energy sources under laboratory conditions is recognized. In this work, an OPS-based dosimeter using a photodiode combined improved solid state detection and signal processing techniques has been developed; it offers the potential construction stable fully portable which will extend useful range measurement beyond usual MeV area provide reliable readings down to sub-'100 keV'...
