Low socioeconomic status (SES) is persistently associated with poor health and suboptimal use of healthcare services, more unplanned use. Suboptimal emergency acute services may increase inequalities, due to late diagnosis or lack continuity care. Given that literacy has been utilisation education attainment, we sought explore whether related the out-of-hours (OOH) Primary Care Services (PCSs). Additionally, aimed study what extent accounts for some association between OOH PSC A survey...
Background Since the outbreak of COVID-19, development dashboards as dynamic, visual tools for communicating COVID-19 data has surged worldwide. Dashboards can inform decision-making and support behavior change. To do so, they must be actionable. The features that constitute an actionable dashboard in context pandemic have not been rigorously assessed. Objective aim this study is to explore characteristics public web-based by assessing their purpose users (“why”), content (“what”), analyses...
We measured COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness (VE) against symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection at primary care/outpatient level among adults ≥ 65 years old using a multicentre test-negative design in eight European countries. included 592 cases and 4,372 controls the main analysis. The VE was 62% (95% CI: 45–74) for one dose only 89% 79–94) complete vaccination. vaccines provide good protection presentation level, particularly fully vaccinated individuals.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, provision of non-COVID healthcare was recurrently severely disrupted. The objective to determine whether disruption hospital use, either due cancelled, postponed, or forgone care, during first pandemic year impacted socioeconomic groups differently compared with pre-pandemic use.
Socio-economic groups differ in their material, living, working and social circumstances, which may result different priorities about daily-life needs, including the priority to make healthy food choices. Following Maslow's hierarchy of human we hypothesised that socio-economic inequalities choices can be explained by differences levels need fulfilment. Postal survey data collected 2011 (67·2 % response) from 2903 participants aged 20–75 years Dutch GLOBE (Gezondheid en Levens Omstandigheden...
As the COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020, primary care influenza sentinel surveillance networks within Influenza - Monitoring Vaccine Effectiveness Europe (I-MOVE) consortium rapidly adapted to surveillance. This study maps system adaptations and lessons learned about aligning following ECDC / WHO/Europe recommendations preparing for other diseases possibly emerging future. Using a qualitative approach, we describe of seven sites five European Union countries United Kingdom during first...
The main aim of the Gezondheid en Levens Omstandigheden Bevolking Eindhoven omstreken (GLOBE) study (the letters whose name represent first Dutch acronym for Health and Living Conditions Population surroundings) is to quantitatively assess mechanisms factors explaining socio-economic inequalities in health Netherlands. Baseline data were collected by postal survey 1991 among 18 973 respondents ranging age from 15–75 years city its surrounding municipalities. Subsamples (total N = 5667)...
Introduction In July and August 2021, the SARS-CoV-2 Delta variant dominated in Europe. Aim Using a multicentre test-negative study, we measured COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness (VE) against symptomatic infection. Methods Individuals with or acute respiratory symptoms at primary care/community level 10 European countries were tested for SARS-CoV-2. We complete course overall VE by brand time since vaccination. Results Overall was 74% (95% CI: 69–79), 76% 71–80), 63% 48–75) 16–83) among those...
Background and Purpose— Atherosclerotic carotid plaque ulceration is considered a marker of previous rupture subsequent thromboembolism. It can be accurately detected with multidetector CTA. We hypothesized that atherosclerotic associated nonlacunar ischemic stroke rather than lacunar stroke. Methods— Prospectively, 750 consecutive patients transient attack or symptoms in the anterior cerebral circulation were evaluated for presence symptomatic artery Patients attributable to cardiac...
Objectives Explore the occurrence and nature of questionable research practices (QRPs) in reporting messages conclusions international scientific Health Services Research (HSR) publications authored by researchers from HSR institutions Netherlands. Design In a joint effort to assure overall quality Netherlands, 13 Netherlands participated this study. Together with these institutions, we constructed validated an assessment instrument covering 35 possible QRPs conclusions. Two reviewers...

In the Netherlands, primary out-of-hours (OOH) care is provided by large scale General Practitioner (GP) cooperatives. GP cooperatives can be contacted patients living in area surrounding cooperative (catchment area) at hours when patient's own general practice closed. The frequency of OOH use substantially differs between catchment areas. To enable a better match supply and demand services, understanding factors associated with essential. present study evaluated contribution...
The organizational model of out-of-hours primary care is likely to affect healthcare use. We aimed examine differences in the use general practitioner cooperatives for Netherlands and Belgium (Flanders) explore if these are related differences.A cross-sectional observational study using routine electronic health record data year 2016 from 77 5 (Flanders). The launch in 2017 of the Irish 10-year reform programme Sláintecare represents a key commitment future health system. An important component was development system performance assessment (HSPA) framework. In 2019, Department Health Ireland (DoH) and Service Executive (HSE) commissioned technical support researchers to develop an outcome-oriented HSPA framework which should reflect shared priorities multiple stakeholders, including citizens. This study describes method applied context...
Between 2019 and 2021, the first Irish health system performance assessment (HSPA) framework was developed. As routinely collected data are necessary to continuously populate indicators of an HSPA framework, a purpose-driven information (HIS) in Ireland its fitness support implementation conducted. This study reports on status HIS through multimethod based continuous broad stakeholder involvement.Between May November 2020, over 50 informants were engaged individual group interviews...
Low socioeconomic position (SEP) is related to higher healthcare use in out-of-hours primary care services (OPCSs). We aimed determine whether inequalities persist when taking the generally poorer health status of socioeconomically vulnerable individuals into account. To put OPCS perspective, this was compared with daytime general practice (DGP).Electronic record (EHR) data 988 040 patients 2017 (251 DGPs, 27 OPCSs) from Nivel Primary Care Database were linked socio-demographic (Statistics,...

Peripheral blood flow can be markedly impaired in septic shock. Bedside assessment of this derangement has not yet been incorporated into routine clinical practice. We hypothesize that noninvasive monitoring peripheral perfusion with physical examination and the index (PFI) derived from pulse oximetry signal reflect sepsis-induced microcirculation alteration as measured by near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) patients
